Expect to see some popular Mandalorian characters swarming Galaxy's Edge sometime in the future. The Disney era of Star Wars has seen a dramatic boom in content, from movies to television shows to amusement park attractions. While Disney's sequel trilogy failed to impress a large portion of fans, the studio's other efforts have earned more positive feedback, particularly in the case of the first Disney+ series The Mandalorian. Additionally, Disney has brought the Star Wars universe to life with Galaxy's Edge, a theme park experience designed to amaze dedicated and casual fans alike.

The Mandalorian season 2 ran from the end of October to just before Christmas, and it reached even greater heights than the first season did in 2019. One of the biggest shows of the year, The Mandalorian season 2 focused on the titular helmet-wearing bounty hunter's (Pedro Pascal) efforts to find a Jedi willing to train powerful young Grogu (aka Baby Yoda). While still remaining focused on its core character, the season featured several surprises for Star Wars fans, with the most exciting being a cameo from Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) himself.

With The Mandalorian standing as one of the biggest things in pop culture today, Disney is looking to bring it into its parks in a major way. While speaking on his podcast The Disney Dish, Joe Hill delved into Disney's plans for bringing various Mandalorian characters into Galaxy's Edge. This includes various guest stars who are headed for their own spin-off shows. "We should anticipate seeing meet-and-greet opportunities with Mando and the Child, likewise Boba Fett will start making appearances, also Ahsoka Tano," Hill said. In light of the sequel trilogy's disappointing response, Hill seemed to indicate Disney would put more of a focus on the beloved Mandalorian. He added:

"Kylo Ren does exist in [The Mandalorian's] universe - he may be four years old - but he does exist. And the thinking right now is, yes, last year guests were excited thereabouts to have Kylo Ren and Rey walking around in Galaxy's Edge, but in a situation like this where if they were to do something like, say, have Kylo Ren's shuttle disappear and suddenly the Razor Crest is sitting there parked, that would go from 'oh that's interesting' to 'holy cow, where's the line, how do I get my picture taken with the Child'?"

From an outsider's standpoint, this move makes perfect sense. If Disney feels the characters of The Mandalorian resonate more with fans than those of the sequel films, then of course they would plan to bring Mando, Boba Fett, and Ahsoka Tano to their parks. It would increase fans' enthusiasm greatly (especially if Grogu is there). How many people would eagerly line up to get a picture with Mando? Probably a lot. Beyond that, with Fett and Ahsoka set to headline their own shows, this could provide extra promotion for them.

Right now, Disney parks are stuck in a difficult position due to the coronavirus pandemic, with Disneyland not open at all. Perhaps this new Mandalorian focus is partially in an effort to draw in more attendees once the parks are back to (relative) normal. Galaxy's Edge initial opening drew a great deal of interest, and if any future changes to the area are made with The Mandalorian in mind, that interest just might spike once more.
