You can’t bring Galaxy’s Edge detonator Coke bottles home if you’re flying. The vast array of Star Wars related souvenirs and items available at Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction certainly makes it a fiercely unique visit for Star Wars fans.

While the first Galaxy’s Edge park opened at Disneyland back in May of this year, the second attraction, located at Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida is due to open tomorrow. The attraction offer fans numerous opportunities to immerse themselves in the Star Wars experience, with everything from building their own lightstaber, to drinking blue milk to taking a voyage in the Millennium Falcon available to everyone who visits the mysterious planet of Batuu. Though there's been recent talk of current attendance not living up to what Disney had expected, it’s still very early days for both parks, and there are still some high profile aspects of Galaxy’s Edge to be unveiled, such as the Rise of the Resistance ride and as the newly revealed two-night Galactic Starcruiser hotel.

Regardless of attendance, however, one thing that's certain about Galaxy’s Edge is that it offers fans the opportunity to purchase items that they’d never be able to find anywhere else. Unfortunately, as reported by JoBlo, one particularly unique item - a line of Coke bottles shaped like thermal detonators - is officially not permitted by the Transport Security Administration on either domestic or international flights from the United States. Direct confirmation on this issue from TSA came via its Twitter account, which can be seen below:

Though the labels on the bottles of Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite are written in the fictitious Aurebesh language, beneath the decorative caps are the actual and far more familiar respective soda labels. This however, makes no difference to TSA, as replica and inert explosive devices are not permitted on any flights. That’s a definite letdown for Star Wars fans who are traveling a substantial distance in order to visit one of the Galaxy’s Edge parks, but at the same time, even a replica explosive device in a passenger’s luggage is likely not to make air travel a stress free experience for other passengers or airline staff. Perhaps a simple solution for any visiting guests wishing to purchase the Star Wars thermal detonators is to check with the post office on their rules regarding posting the items.

While the thermal detonator Coke bottles may not transport so easily, it’s best that Star Wars fans planning on visiting Galaxy’s Edge are clear on TSA’s rules now, rather than having to undergo the lengthy and frustrating procedure of being taken aside at the airport. This appears to be the first instance of a Galaxy’s Edge item not being permitted on flights by TSA, but as things currently stand, the wisest rule of thumb is that if one has purchased something at Galaxy’s Edge that one feels might possibly be a problem with TSA, it’s always best to reach out and confirm in advance.
