Though he didn't get very much screen time in the original Star Wars trilogy, Boba Fett became a fan favorite due to his cool attitude and the fact that he disintegrated things so much Vader had to tell him not to anymore. Boba Fett was a man of few words, but what he lacked in loquacious banter, he made up for in results.  You don't get the title of the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy by showing up empty-handed. He successfully tracked the notorious smuggler Han Solo to Cloud City and got his mark, with a little help from the carbon freezer chamber.

Visuals played a big part in cementing Fett's legacy. Prior to the prequel trilogy, George Lucas would eventually make which explained its origins, Fett's suit and armor were mysterious. He resembled some sort of space gunslinger, with a helmet and mantle that gave his aesthetic a romanticized sense of honor. Below you'll find ten things about Boba Fett's suit that might make you see him as one giant walking deathtrap.

IT'S COMPRISED OF MANDALORIAN ARMOR

Though Fett himself is not a Mandalorian by birthright, and doesn't call any world in the Mandalorian System home,he wears a suit of battered armor in the style of the ancient warrior race. For centuries the Mandalorians pillaged the galaxy, beginning with planets around them in the Outer Rim, advancing further inward through violent force and military conquest.

Most of them were wiped out in conflicts with the Jedi Order, dispatched by the Old Republic to curtail their raiding parties of nearby star systems. Boba Fett's armor, though heavily scarred, is able to withstand brutal melee attacks due to Mandalorian craftsmanship.

HIS HELMET HAS A CONVENIENT H.U.D.

You don't get the sort of lethal reputation Fett has by not taking every precaution when going to collect a bounty. Fett only takes the most dangerous missions, with the thought of acquiring the largest prize purse. He knows he'll likely face retaliation from bounties and rival bounty hunters, which is where his H.U.D. comes into play.

Integrated into his helmet, the Heads Up Display allows Fett to see his mark from a staggering distance. It gives him a 360-degree field of vision to prevent anyone from getting the drop on him or trying to ensnare him in surprise traps along his route.

IT COMES WITH A JET BACKPACK

More than just a simple "jetpack", Boba Fett's highly utilitarian backpack is both a jumper-pack and a rocket launcher, giving him two useful components in one. The jumper pack contains a grappling hook projectile (complete with hook and winch) that can be attached to the rocket launcher if he needs to climb or repel, as well as other tracking devices and food rations.

It also carries a jet jumper system that allows Fett to have limited flight time in the air with sustained rocket blasts, enabling him to evade an enemy or to stage his own ambush of a bounty. The directional servos give him fairly good maneuverability.

ALL OF HIS GADGETS ARE TRIGGERED BY VOICE COMMAND

Boba Fett is nothing if not prepared. As any good bounty hunter worth his asking price knows, the right tactical gear on missions makes all the difference between bringing in a bounty and barely escaping with your life. But even the best gear and gadgetry is no good to a bounty hunter if they can't access it at the right moment.

That's why Fett has voice command in his helmet. Through the comm system he can launch a missile from his jetpack, or shoot darts from the armor plates on his knee caps. This comes in especially handy when he needs his hands free to fire his blaster rifle or reel in his prey that he's captured with an ion net.

HE CARRIES PLENTY OF TRACKING DEVICES

It stands to reason that the best bounty hunter in the galaxy is the one who could successfully track their prey to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. To secure his title, Boba Fett carries numerous tracking devices that prevent his mark from eluding him no matter if they're in the middle of Coruscant or the Unknown Territories.

From using an ion limpet homing beacon to track spacecraft across the galactic HoloNet, to sophisticated espionage equipment like the "false touch", a pad that clamps over touchprint locks and simulates the bioelectrical field of any being that uses a fingerprint security system, Fett has his bases covered.

ITS SHIN POCKETS ARE FITTED WITH ANTI-SECURITY BLADES

There's just about nowhere on Boba Fett's suit that isn't lethal enough to make him one giant walking booby trap. The anti-security blades kept in his shin pockets allow him to vanquish fence fields and dampen security cameras and their connected alarm systems via intense harmonic interference.

When he sets them higher, Fett's sophisticated electronic instruments can erase magnetic locks, granting him access to nearly any type of door no matter how heavily fortified. They can be used individually, or linked together to create an anti-security field for clandestine forced entries.

IT CONCEALS SOMETHING FOR DEMOLITION

Though Fett usually likes to retrieve his marks without drawing a lot of attention, occasionally he has to resort to more conspicuous methods. That's why he's always prepared to blow something up, and keeps gadgets for demolition on his person at all times. One of the most effective devices he carries is a multi-detonator.

More antiquated than the more commonly used thermal detonator, the multi-detonator is used for major demolition jobs. It's less susceptible to damper shield effects and is fully capable of tearing the engine of any starship into fragments with its blast radius. Only a hunter as lethal as Fett would use something with a cycle wave ripper.

IT FEATURES WEAPONS FOR HAND TO HAND COMBAT

When Fett isn't firing a missile or his EE-3 blaster rifle to disintegrate his prey, he's getting up close and personal. His suit features all sorts of lethal weapons for hand to hand combat. From spring-loaded boot spikes, to kneepad rocket dart launchers, he's got what it takes.

In secret compartments throughout his suit he has sonic beam weapons that emit a screaming noise along with a high-intensity blade of energy, as well as survival knives with flanged stibnium alloy blades capable of slicing you like a fresh Bantha steak.

IT FEATURES ORNAMENTATION

Though Fett's suit is highly utilitarian, it isn't without its ornamentation. His energized blast dissipation vest and chest armor features a sigil of his family, a crest that features a bough of wheat. Around his mid-section he also has a Journeyman protector honor sash.

To attest to his fortitude in previous hunts, he has several braided Wookiee pelts. Wookiees are notoriously difficult to capture given their size and brute strength, and bringing in a Wookiee bounty is a sign of great ingenuity on Fett's part. His mantle is also more ceremonial than functional, a personal flourish.

IT WORKS IN ALL ENVIRONMENTS

Boba Fett

From Cloud City in Bespin to Jabba's Palace on Tatooine, Boba Fett has to be ready to enter any environment. That's why the environmental controls in his helmet are essential for his survival, filtering toxins and giving him up to two hours of clean oxygen. His reinforced double-layered flight suit beneath his Mandalorian armor is also suitable for the extreme cold of deep space.

Other crucial elements include his targeted rangefinder (it can track up to 30 targets at one time) on the side of his helmet, and an internal web of sensory equipment located inside it. The helmet's broadband antenna also allows him to connect to an unscramble any incoming coded messages.
