Ewan McGregor reveals his favorite Star Wars character; surprisingly, it isn't Obi-Wan Kenobi. The actor recently returned to the galaxy far, far away, reprising his role as the fan-favorite Jedi in Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi series. This marks his return to the beloved franchise for the first time since wrapping up the prequel trilogy with Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith.Despite the less than stellar response to George Lucas' Star Wars prequels, certain things from it are unanimously touted to be positive gains for the franchise overall. One of those is McGregor's portrayal of a young Obi-Wan Kenobi — a character first made iconic by Sir Alec Guinness in the original movies. Given this, it isn't surprising that fans are thrilled to spend more time with Ewan on and off-screen. After Obi-Wan Kenobi wrapped up on Disney+, he continues to appear at conventions where he discusses what it's like playing such a beloved character. However, McGregor says that his own Jedi Master isn't even his favorite Star Wars character.Related: Obi-Wan Vs Vader Perfectly Tied To 1 Subtle Return Of The Jedi DetailAttending Superhero Comic-Con 2022 in Texas, McGregor (via @KenobisEopie) was asked who he thinks is the best Star Wars character. After a brief rumination, the actor names Princess Leia as his pick, describing the Alderaan royalty and Freedom Fighter as "ballsy and wise-cracking and beautiful." He added that when he was a young boy, he had a crush on Carrie Fisher's original take on the character. Listen to his full answer below:

Obi-Wan is one of the most popular characters in all of Star Wars, and it doesn't matter if it's Guinness or McGregor's version because both actors were so good at portraying the character. Having played a beloved player in the space opera, McGregor could have easily chosen his Jedi Master as the best in the franchise. While his answer can also be out of modesty, picking Princess Leia makes so much sense. The Princess of Alderaan lived a whole life, devoting her time and effort to ensuring the galaxy was in order and no longer under the rule of an oppressive regime. While Luke Skywalker is regarded as the original Star Wars trilogy's primary protagonist, Leia is as important as he was — some might argue that she may even be more significant than her twin brother.

McGregor's decision to choose Leia is much more special, knowing Obi-Wan and the Princess' secret Star Wars history. As recently revealed in Obi-Wan Kenobi, the pair previously met before the events of A New Hope as the Jedi Master went on a rescue mission after Reva kidnaped Leia for the Empire. Aside from the emotional and intense fight between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader, the Jedi Master and young Leia's interactions are among the best parts of the latest Lucasfilm Disney+ series.
