Star Wars 7 LEGO Commercial: 'Watch Out, It's Kylo Ren!'

Update: Video Has Been Taken Down

J.J. Abrams’ upcoming sequel Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens has been shrouded in secrecy, but with the release of movie’s toys coming soon, new information has leaked that gives Star Wars fans a better look at a new character in The Force Awakens, in the form of a new LEGO commercial.

As a continuation of the original Star Wars trilogy, The Force Awakens takes place about 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI - The Return of the Jedi. The Empire still survives in a new group called The First Order and a new bad guy Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) who can control the Dark Side of the Force. Ren and The First Order go up against new heroes like Poe Dameron (Oscar Issac), Rey (Daisy Ridley), and Finn (John Boyega), and the original Star Wars heroes, Luke (Mark Hamill), Leia (Carrie Fisher), and Han (Harrison Ford).

Another one of the newest characters added to the movie is a little droid named BB-8, who is a prominent figure in the new LEGO commercial. Not only does the commercial feature BB-8 in action, but fans can get a closer look at the new Star Wars LEGO sets of the Poe Dameron’s black X-Wing and Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle.

Even though the little droid has already appeared on stage for Star Wars Celebration earlier this year, the LEGO trailer gives a better idea of what the droid is going to sound like in the movie. Expect the sounds in the movie to be more similar to the commercial, as the BB-8 sounds from the teaser and at the Celebration were put in temporarily. Also, the commercial again confirms that BB-8 will be riding alongside with Poe Dameron in his X-Wing in the new movie.

If the commercial parallels any events in the upcoming movie, Kylo Ren and The First Order could be after BB-8, but for what purpose? Could this little droid be carrying something valuable? Rumor has it that Kylo Ren is obsessed with collecting Sith artifacts and a blue lightsaber created by Anakin Skywalker would be the ultimate treasure. Also, considering the fact that the latest teaser for The Force Awakens has Finn wielding a blue lightsaber, the theory might not be too far-fetched. It wouldn't be the first time in Star Wars history that one droid was able to stir up that much trouble.

Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18, 2015, followed by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on December 16, 2016, Star Wars: Episode VIII on May 26, 2017, and the Han Solo Star Wars film on May 25, 2018. Star Wars: Episode IX is expected to reach theaters in 2019, followed by the third Star Wars standalone film in 2020.
