Warning! Spoilers ahead for Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #7 from Alyssa Wong and Minkyu Jung

A fan-favorite Star Wars character from Marvel Comics just made a connection to 2018's Solo: A Star Wars Story film. In the latest issue of Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, the titular and infamous rogue archaeologist is on a brand new job, looking for ancient and extremely rare technology from the days of the High Republic. Now, her quest has brought her to Corellia (the home world of the equally infamous smuggler Han Solo). Likewise, her journey also brings her face-to-face with a villain from Solo who seems to dislike Aphra just as much as Han himself, probably for a lot of the same reasons.

Doctor Chelli Aphra has been hired by Domina Tagge, the matriarch of the incredibly powerful and wealthy Imperial Tagge family. As such, Aphra is very much looking forward to the rather large payday she'll receive if she succeeds in retrieving a path engine (beyond her own fascination with the technology itself). Coming from the High Republic era, the path engine is a design of the Nihil, who had an uncanny mastery and manipulation of lightspeed travel. If the path engine were to be mass produced on a large scale during the age of the Empire, it wouldn't just be the galactic economy that would massively change due to the path engine's ability to generate even faster means of travel through hyperspace. The Galactic Civil War could be ended in rapid fashion, especially if the Empire were to get access to the technology from the Tagges, who would no doubt reap the massive profits that would come with it. As a result, it's a rather big job and Aphra is determined to deliver the goods.

Upon her arrival to Corellia, one of the first things Aphra does is visit her old friend Sana Starros. As Aphra reveals, she's hoping that Sana can get her an audience with Lady Proxima, the crime boss leader of the White Worms. Star Wars fans will remember Proxima as the one who had a young Han Solo and Qi'ra in her service years prior as revealed in Solo: A Star Wars Story. While Han managed to escape and temporarily joined the Empire, Qi'ra didn't make it out till later, joining the crime syndicate known as Crimson Dawn. However, like Han, it looks as though Aphra has a rough relationship and history with Proxima (much to the surprise of Sana).

Once it becomes evident that Proxima knows exactly who Doctor Aphra is, Chelli admits to Sana that she lied and was using her, as Proxima would have never agreed to see Aphra otherwise. However, never one to be unprepared, Aphra offers a gift to the crime boss to placate her, who then agrees to give Aphra the information she's looking for, getting Aphra one step closer to getting her hands on the path engine.

By the end of the issue, it's revealed that the vicious and ruthless Unbroken Clan are also after the engine, leaving Sana no choice but to join Aphra on her quest to find it as the series continues. In any case, it's pretty fun to learn that Aphra had as equally challenging a relationship with Lady Proxima as Han did in Soloand probably for the same reason: they're both cocky rogues with vast stores of wit and self-perceived charm, which more often than not gets them into all kinds of trouble throughout the Star Wars galaxy.
