Warning! Spoilers for Darth Vader #3 below

Darth Vader is on a mission to find out more about his son Luke Skywalker and to terrorize everyone who hid the secret of his existence from him. In his search, he's run into Sabé, the woman who served as Queen Amidala's double, and his adventures have taken him to Naboo - where a revenge plot has been put in effect.

In Darth Vader by Greg Pak, Raffaele Ienco, and Neeraj Menon, Vader has sought answers for Padmé's death and Luke's existence. After finding out about security recordings that provided answers on Padmé's death and encountering Sabé, the pair head to Naboo to find more answers to decrypt the tapes. However, Darth Vader's arrival on Naboo is met with a team ready to take him down for his terrible actions across the galaxy.

In Darth Vader #3, Vader's search for the truth takes him to the Naberri Lake Retreat. Upon arrival, Vader is immediately shot at by Captain Gregar Typho and Captain Tonra, both former members of the Naboo Security Force. Vader is intent on killing them, but Sabé convinces him to spare the former security and says the pair share answers to the recordings. After nearly getting eaten by a Colo Claw Fish, the group makes their way to an underwater base where the recordings are supposedly hidden. Upon finding the recordings, it's the video shows Sabé, not Padmé, planning to get revenge on the person who murdered their queen. That's when Tonra presses a button, the ground shakes and a giant creature is shown to about to swallow the base whole.

To add insult to injury, the crew says "For Anakin" as they activate the suicide mission.

It's not often Darth Vader is tricked in such a dramatic way, but his guard was certainly down with the revelation he might learn more about the death of his former love, Padmé. While Vader isn't directly responsible for her death, the Naboo security team understandably thinks he's responsible for not only Padme's death but Anakin's demise as well. While Vader will almost certainly make it out of the ambush alive, the plan against him was brilliant as the group positioned themselves as best as possible to get revenge for Padmé’s death.

What happens next is anyone's guess. Will the sea creatures spell the end for Sabé and her team? How will Darth Vader make it out in one piece? What's next in his search for answers regarding Padmé? It's a dramatic end to Vader's search for the recordings - it's fair to assume he won't be so trustworthy going forward. Darth Vader #3 is in stores now!
