Star Wars novelist Drew Karpyshyn has co-signed a fan's suggestion Justice League director Zack Snyder should adapt the Darth Bane trilogy. The three Legends books tell the story of the ancient Sith Lord who lived 1,000 years before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and came up with the famous "Rule of Two." Darth Bane: Path of Destruction was published in 2006, followed by Darth Bane: Rule of Two in 2007, and Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil in 2009.

Meanwhile, Snyder has extensive experience directing big-budget comic book and superhero movies, including 300 and Watchmen. He has also helmed the DC Extended Universe's Man of  Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League, of which his four-hour cut is premiering next month. His zombie heist movie Army of the Dead will release on Netflix later this year.

When a fan tweeted that Snyder and Karpyshyn should co-write a trilogy of Darth Bane movies with Snyder directing, Karpyshyn retweeted his support for the idea. He also tweeted that Snyder should DM him. Check out Karpyshyn's tweet below.

In addition to the Darth Bane trilogy, Karpyshyn has written the expanded universe novels Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan and Star Wars: The Old Republic: Annihilation. He has also written the video games Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars: The Old Republic. With reception to the prequel and sequel trilogies of Star Wars movies mixed, a writer like Karpyshyn, who's familiar with the expanded universe and source material, taking the reins would help any project's overall quality.

Snyder has discussed his love of Star Wars movies before but last year suggested he won't direct any, saying he doesn't "know how I'd fit into the Star Wars universe anymore." Many took this to mean he feels his darker, more R-rated take on comic book and superhero films doesn't align with Disney's vision for the franchise. However, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is actually quite dark, particularly the iconic, chilling final scene of Darth Vader killing dozens of Rebel fighters, so Disney has been willing to go less family-friendly when the story has called for it. With multiple Star Wars projects in the works for Disney+, one or more of those could potentially be dark in nature. So Disney might be willing to accommodate a more adult take on the franchise for the right story and director, which means a Snyder-directed Star Wars project might not be so far-fetched. However, given Snyder's busy schedule, Darth Bane might have to wait.
