Dave Filoni has proved himself time and time again as a master craftsman in terms of storytelling in the Star Wars Galaxy, whether it be through his directorial efforts in The Mandalorian or his unbelievable turns in his two animated shows Star Wars: Rebels and The Clone Wars.
The latest and final season of The Clone Wars surpassed all expectations, even just based on its Siege of Mandalore arc alone, delivering a fantastic conclusion to the beloved show. Throughout season seven, there were connections to other pieces of Star Wars media, including Rebels, 10 of which we look at here.
The Cockpit
If you look at the Silver Angel closely when Ahsoka, Rafa, and Trace are on the ship, there is something very familiar about the cockpit.
That is because it is pretty much the basis of the cockpit of the famous Ghost ship from Rebels. Filoni used the concept of what was to become the Silver Angel for the Ghost when the final season of The Clone Wars was but a pipe dream.
Fyrnocks
Fyrnocks are cat-like animals native to Anaxes and can be seen during the Bad Batch arc while the clones are on the planet camping out waiting to resume their search for Echo.
The Fyrnocks initially appeared in Rebels at Fort Anaxes, with Kanan and Ezra using the Force to convince them to attack both the Grand Inquisitor and his accompanying group of stormtroopers.
Ursa Wren
Ursa Wren, at the time of Rebels, is the mother of Ghost crew member Sabine Wren, as well as the leader of the Mandalorian Clan Wren, an essential character in Sabine's story.
She makes a couple of appearances in the last arc of season seven, the Siege of Mandalore. She is a part of Bo-Katan Kryze's Mandalore Resistance and a loyal fighter who takes part in the siege.
Fort Anaxes
Going back to Anaxes and the Bad Batch arc, Fort Anaxes is the Galactic military base on Anaxes, where the clones and their Jedi generals were situated.
Of course, Fort Anaxes is a place that first appeared in Rebels in season one, this being the occasion when Ezra and Kanan used the Fyrnocks to attack the Inquisitor and stormtroopers.
The Convor (Morai?)
The Clone Wars had a heartbreaking finale in "Victory and Death," ending in a somber scene with Vader collecting the lightsaber of Ahsoka. In the sky above Vader, where he looks to, is flying a Convor.
Convors are small birds connected to the Force and Ahsoka Tano. Morai is the Convor seen in Rebels, who has spiritual ties to the Daughter from Mortis, and so it makes one wonder if it is the same Convor above Vader.
Cheep
One of the most heartbreaking moments of the finale to The Clone Wars was when troopers decided to gun down the droids aiding Rex and Ahsoka.
One of those droids was CH-33P, more affectionately known as Cheep. What ties Cheep to Rebels is he is a C-1-series astromech droid, the same droid as Chopper from Rebels, both based on Ralph McQuarrie concept pieces for R2-D2, and both voiced by Dave Filoni.
Fulcrum
To get in touch with Anakin and Obi-Wan about aiding in the Siege of Mandalore, Ahsoka Tano uses the codename Fulcrum. This initially prompts the pair to think Saw Guererra is getting in touch, but is, in fact, the first occasion Ahsoka uses the name, a bit of conflict with what is detailed in the Ahsoka novel.
Fulcrum is another thing that originally popped up in Rebels, it was used as a way of getting in touch with the rebels, first used by Ahsoka, and later used by Agent Kallus after he defected from the Empire.
Caleb Dume
Star Wars: Rebels revealed to fans that following the war and his survival from Order 66, Kanan Jarrus adopted the name he is known by, with his real, original name being Caleb Dume, back when he was a Padawan.
Teasers for the final season of The Clone Wars showed a young Caleb Dume around the holo table alongside Jedi Masters and his master Depa Billaba. This scene popped up in the show early in the Siege of Mandalore, but Caleb did not get any lines or anything to do. He was just a cameo, a heartbreaking connection to Rebels, and a reminder of how his life was about to change.
"...I Fought By Her Side..."
When Captain Rex is reintroduced to fans in Rebels, it is a fantastic moment that raised a lot of questions and induced a lot of happiness.
When told about Ahsoka, Rex says, "Ahsoka Tano. I fought by her side from the Battle of Christophsis to the Siege of Mandalore." These battles are the bookends of The Clone Wars, with Rex and Ahsoka key to both.
"The Last Time I Saw Him..."
Anakin and Ahsoka share their last moment together in the first episode of the Siege of Mandalore arc when Ahsoka goes off to Mandalore, and Anakin goes to save the Chancellor as seen in Revenge Of The Sith.
Of course, if you look back at Rebels when Ahsoka is talking about Anakin, she says, "The last time I saw him, he was rushing off to save the Chancellor." It's like poetry, it rhymes.
