In the rabidly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi show and the long-awaited Ahsoka show, which is now in production, there is a lot of room for beloved characters to show up and further the story, especially those from The Clone Wars. The beloved show is one of the best pieces of Star Wars ever, and that is in large part to its incredible characters, which users on Ranker have ranked.

There are definitely some surprises, with Anakin not being deemed top-10-worthy by the site, but that is a testament to how immense so many of the characters in the show are and what they add to the canon with their brilliantly crafted stories.

Asajj Ventress

Asajj Ventress fighting.

Asajj Ventress is far more than a badass assassin throughout The Clone Wars and the general Star Wars canon. She goes on what turns out to be an awesome character journey, with writing that allows her to thrive and become one of the show's best characters.

Ventress' fascinating past and progression into a Sith Assassin, Nightsister, bounty hunter, and finally redeemed ally of the Jedi makes for one of the best character explorations in the show. That, of course, piles onto the sheer badassery she exudes every time she ignites her lightsabers or banters with the likes of Obi-Wan. It is a shame her story did not finish in The Clone Wars as intended, but Dark Disciple is a must-read and fitting story for her.

Kit Fisto

Star Wars Clones Wars Kit Fisto Lightsaber Underwater Battle of Mon Cala

The Clone Wars really highlights how unlikable the Jedi Council/Order can be as an institution, with many individuals becoming infuriating to fans. A couple of Jedi, though, become even more beloved, with Kit Fisto being the perfect example.

He turns out to be one of the best Jedi in the show and one who always ends up being one of the best parts of his episodes. On top of that, he proves himself incredibly cool, with the Nautolan being both wise and skilled with a lightsaber both above and underwater.

R2-D2

R2-D2 traipsing through a swamp in The Clone Wars

Droid-focused episodes of Star Wars animation are rarely met with universal acclaim and are often seen as the worst they have to offer to many fans. Nevertheless, it is always great to see R2-D2, who is perhaps the best droid in Star Wars.

Throughout his time in the show, what really shines about Artoo is his relationship with Anakin and Ahsoka. Rarely is Artoo the main character of episodes - and when he is, they are not the best - but alongside other beloved characters, he proves to be as brilliant as ever in this series.

Yoda

Yoda does battle with battle droids which Asajj Ventress has sent to kill him in The Clone Wars premiere

While Yoda is very much at the heart of the Jedi Order in The Clone Wars, he remains hugely likable throughout the show, and the focal point of some fascinating storylines, while also offering some typically outstanding, wise quotes.

Yoda is the focus of one of the best and even most underrated arcs, his journey in the Force to close out season 6, and has a role to play in so many other great stories. Throughout the show, he offers his wisdom to various characters, showing his own kick-ass skills with a lightsaber and the Force when necessary. His role in the prequels is improved by the things he learns in this show.

Plo Koon

Plo Koon fights with clones in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Coming out of The Clone Wars, there may have been no Jedi more loved than Plo Koon (except for the big two), who steals the screen every time he appears. It is no surprise to see Ranker users giving him so much love, he is many fans' favorite Jedi.

Plo is typically wise as a Jedi Master but is void of the arrogance and hubris that the likes of Ki-Adi Mundi showcase. What truly separates Plo is his relationships and treatment of others. His "Not to me," line to the clones is one of the show's best, and even if he did not stand up for her as he should have, his relationship with little 'Soka is fantastic to watch. Seeing his death in Revenge of the Sith is far more heartbreaking after seeing him in this series.

Echo

Rex finds Echo in Star Wars Clone Wars

One of the best things this show does for the Star Wars canon is exploring the clones, making them individuals with whom audiences are emotionally invested. Few are more loved than Echo.

Seeing his relationship with the likes of Fives and Rex is an absolute joy, but what ironically may make the clone a better character is his heartbreaking journey, thought to have died before the reveal that the Separatists captured him, and used him against the Republic. He has yet to reach his potential in The Bad Batch, but given how great he is in The Clone Wars, that potential will hopefully be fulfilled.

Fives

Clone Trooper Fives looking scared in Star Wars The Clone Wars

Echo makes up one of The Clone Wars' best duos with his fellow 501st legion ARC trooper, Fives, who is set apart from most other clones thanks to his season 6 arc, which is so crucial to the Star Wars canon and so emotionally affecting.

Through Fives, Star Wars fans get let in on the secret of inhibitor chips and Palpatine's sickeningly genius plan. On top of that, Fives' sacrifice led to the survival of Rex and Ahsoka at the end of the show, making him one of the most important figures in the show. All of that is in surplus to the fact that he is just such a likable, wonderful clone character before then, who suffers a lot of loss.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Fans learn so much about Obi-Wan in The Clone Wars, and his time in the show even improves the prequel version of the character, which is already fantastic to begin with.

James Arnold Taylor is a fantastic recast, and Obi-Wan s consistently brilliant for all seven seasons. Everything with Satine is so powerful and adds a lot to the character, while his dynamic with Anakin is explored perhaps better than ever, with the struggle of being his Master and feeling perhaps unworthy weighing on him. There is also a slew of great Obi-Wan quotes and lightsaber battles in the series, with the shadow of his epic rivalry with Maul over his shoulder throughout the show too.

Captain Rex

Rex executes Order 66 in Star Wars The Clone Wars

While the box office names going into The Clone Wars are Obi-Wan and Anakin, it is Rex who positions himself as the second main character of the show, as well as one of its best and most popular characters.

Rex acts as the vessel through which audiences explore the individuality of clones and their position in the Galaxy. Seeing him grow from an obedient soldier to a free-thinking individual who still fights for what is right is one of the show's best overarching stories. Rex is also helped in the rankings by being the central character in arcs such as the Umbara arc, one of The Clone Wars' most popular arcs and some of its best episodes.

Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka Tano faces off with Maul in The Clone Wars

Nowadays, it is a hard task to find a Star Wars fan who does not at least like Ahsoka and see her as one of The Clone Warrs' best characters. Her journey both in-universe and in the fandom is undeniable.

Ahsoka undergoes so much growth in the show, proving herself to be, in the eyes of many, exactly what a Jedi should be. Ahsoka is the heart of the show, having so many excellent dynamics, being the focus of some immense stories, and being its central character overall. It is no surprise to see her rated so highly.
