A lot of Star Wars characters are already confirmed to appear in Ahsoka, which will release on Disney+ in August 2023. Alongside Rosario Dawson's titular character, several other characters have already been confirmed to be returning to Ahsoka, alongside some new characters. Following Dave Filoni's fondness for bringing back animated Star Wars characters, Ashoka's cast of characters is a starry one.

Ahsoka will see the former Jedi apprentice continuing her quest to find Grand Admiral Thrawn, who has been confirmed as a key part of the Star Wars sequel trilogy's backstory for Snoke. Ahsoka's first trailer showed hints of what to expect from the series, including first looks at several characters - old and new - as well as showing glimpses of the story. Here's every retuning Star Wars character in Ahsoka.

11 Ahsoka Tano

  • Previous Star Wars Appearances: Star Wars: Rebels, Tales of the Jedi, The Clone Wars, The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett

As the protagonist of Ahsoka, Ahsoka Tano is naturally set to appear, with Rosario Dawson reprising her role from The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Ahsoka has been an active part of the Star Wars franchise ever since her debut as Anakin’s Padawan in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Ahsoka will be the latest continuation of her story. What, exactly, she’ll be doing is unknown, but as previously discussed, her previous appearances in the franchise make it likely that Ahsoka will revolve around her looking for both Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn.

10 Sabine Wren

  • Previous Star Wars Appearances: Star Wars: Rebels

Sabine Wren from Star Wars Rebels is set to appear in Ahsoka, with Natasha Liu Bordizzo replacing her voice actress Tiya Sircar to portray her in live-action. Sabine was a member of the Ghost crew who fought with the Rebellion against the Empire, with Rebels ending with them managing to liberate Ezra’s homeworld of Lothal. Sabine’s role in the Disney+ series Ahsoka is currently unknown, but Rebels ended with her going with Ahsoka to try and find Ezra, so the series will likely focus on that in some capacity.

9 Hera Syndulla

  • Previous Star Wars Appearances: Star Wars: Rebels

Footage from Star Wars Celebration has confirmed that Hera Syndulla will be returning to Ahsoka. As confirmed during the first Ahsoka trailer, Mary Elizabeth Winstead replaces Hera’s original voice actress, Vanessa Marshall for the live-action Ahsoka show. Hera was the captain of the Ghost in Star Wars Rebels and continued fighting for the Rebellion after the liberation of Lothal, even taking part in both the Battle of Scarif in Rogue One and the Battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi. Hera’s role in Ahsoka is unknown at the moment, but the same footage that revealed Hera also hinted that her and Kanan’s son, Jacen, might be developing Force abilities (via Gizmodo), so her role in the show could relate to that.

8 Chopper

  • Previous Star Wars Appearances: Star Wars: Rebels, Rogue One (cameo only)

Alongside Hera, Chopper was also confirmed to be appearing in Ahsoka, and appeared in the first trailer. At the moment, it’s currently unknown if Chopper’s voice actor; Dave Filoni, will be reprising his role in live-action. As Hera’s personal droid, Chopper has been with Hera for most of her life, and that’s undoubtedly the justification for Chopper appearing in Ahsoka. As expected, Chopper will be acting in a supporting role to Hera and other characters as he did in Star Wars Rebels.

7 Ezra Bridger

  • Previous Star Wars Appearances: Star Wars: Rebels

Since the majority of returning characters in Ahsoka appear to be characters who either debuted or appeared in Star Wars Rebels, it should come as no surprise that Ezra Bridger will also appear. Both characters disappeared in the Rebels series finale when Ezra summoned the purrgil, a race of space whales with the ability to travel in hyperspace, to send both of them away from Lothal.

Ezra Bridger appears in the first Ahsoka trailer, briefly, and only in hologram form. He will be played by Eman Esfandi.

6 Grand Admiral Thrawn

  • Previous Star Wars Appearances: Star Wars: Rebels

For Thrawn, Ahsoka’s appearance in The Mandalorian established that she was looking for him, so while the specifics of Ahsoka’s story aren’t fully known, her quest will continue and that leads to an actual appearance by Grand Admiral Thrawn. There have also been rumors that the two are, in fact, set to appear, with Lars Mikkelsen rumored to reprise his role as Thrawn in live-action.

5 Huyang

The lightsaber droid Huyang from Ahsoka.
  • Previous Star Wars Appearances: The Clone Wars

Droid Huyang returns to Ahsoka having previously appeared in The Clone Wars. He is a droid who specialized in the crafting of lightsabers, and helped a group of younglings make their own. David Tennant voiced Huyang in The Clone Wars, and returns to voice the droid again in Ahsoka. Could his appearance play into suspicions that Ahsoka will explore the creation of new types of lightsaber?

4 Mon Mothma

Previous Star Wars Appearances: Rogue One, Andor, The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi

The veteran character and Rebel Queen Mon Mothma will return to Ahsoka, once more played by Genevieve O'Reilly . The extent of her role is unclear, but Mothma now ranks up with the Star Wars characters with the most appearances in different properties.

3 Morgan Elsbeth

Previous Star Wars Appearance: The Mandalorian Season 2

Morgan Elsbeth appeared previously in I season 2, episode 5, in which the Imperial Magistrate dueled with Ahsoka, before the latter demanded to know the location of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Diana Lee Inosanto once more plays Elsbeth in Ahsoka.

2 Will Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker Return In Ahsoka?

Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano in The Book of Boba Fett Chapter 6.

Previous Star Wars Appearances: The Original Star Wars Trilogy, The Sequel Trilogy, The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith

Mark Hamill remains unconfirmed for Ahsoka, despite the close relationship between Luke Skywalker and Rosario Dawson's hero. Last seen in The Book of Boba Fett, as Grogu's Jedi teacher, at this point in the Star Wars timeline, Skywalker is still attempting to rebuild the Jedi. It may make sense for Ahsoka to once more turn to a de-aged Hamill for another fan-pleasing cameo or supporting role, particularly with Ahsoka perhaps needing counsel. Hamill so far has remained silent on the suggestion of Luek Skywalker's return in Ahsoka.

1 Is Hayden Christensen’s Anakin In Ahsoka?

Hayden Christensen As Anakin Skywalker In Revenge Of The Sith.
  • Previous Star Wars Appearances: The Star Wars Prequel Trilogies, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars Original Trilogy (as Darth Vader)

The final Star Wars character set to return in Ahsoka is Anakin Skywalker, with Hayden Christensen reprising his role from the Star Wars prequel trilogy. At the moment, Anakin’s role in Ahsoka is unknown, but it should be noted that Christensen was specifically stated to be returning as Anakin Skywalker, not Darth Vader, as was the case for Obi-Wan Kenobi, which implies that Anakin could be a heroic character in Ahsoka.

While the exact way that will be handled hasn’t been explained, the most likely ways for it to be done are for Christensen to either be playing Anakin in flashbacks to the Clone Wars era when Ahsoka was still under his wing or for him to be a Force ghost communicating with Ahsoka in present-day; the upcoming Star Wars novel, Shadow of the Sith, also has Anakin appearing as a Force ghost, so there’s an established precedent for Anakin appearing in that way. Regardless, once Ahsoka is closer to being released, Anakin’s role in the story should become clearer.
