With Disney Plus launching a new range of TV shows for the Star Wars universe it's natural to want to see some old characters on the small screen. With such a rich history and set of films, there really are so many options for what direction these shows could move in.

So far, it has been confirmed that some of the characters we know and love are getting their own Solo TV show, while others are heavily rumoured to be appearing in one. Then there are characters who certainly could get their own show if everything lines up correctly. So, here's a list detailing those characters that could or will turn up on Disney Plus very soon!

Updated June 3rd, 2020 by George Chrysostomou: With the Star Wars galaxy continuing to rapidly move forward and new rumors about future casting we've updated this list to reflect the recent rumors and confirmations.

Confirmed: Unknown High Republic Characters

Star Wars High Republic

The High Republic is a brand new initiative from Lucasfilm to try and bring in a variety of new characters in a completely different era. This is being developed across platforms including books, comics and perhaps even video games.

One area this has pretty much confirmed to be developed in is live-action. Clearly part of the plan is to bring some kind of content to Disney+ that works alongside the other High Republic characters. It's still unclear what form this could take though.

Confirmed: Solo

It is pretty much confirmed at this point that we will be seeing a Han Solo spin-off series on Disney Plus with some of the returning cast from the films. It's been rumored for some time now, and, while it hasn't been confirmed by Disney itself, it has been by many other sources.

With the original film seemingly setting up a wider universe to explore, it makes complete sense that a series could be created from this. Indeed, this is a better way to continue on from the story set out, while not having the risk of taking it back into the cinemas.

Confirmed: Obi-Wan Kenobi

D23 saw the confirmation that everyone's favorite Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi would be returning to the screen finally. The series looks like it will be set after the events of the prequel trilogy but before Ben Kenobi interacts with Luke Skywalker for the first time.

There's so much potential for this series as this is quite a large space in time. While it's unlikely the whole series will be set on Tatooine, some of it surely will be as Obi-Wan looks out for a young Luke. There's sure to be an encounter with Darth Maul, as well, who is around at this point in the timeline.

Confirmed: Cassian Andor

Cassian Andor has absolutely become one of the unsung heroes of the Star Wars universe and should certainly receive more screen time. The character has had a murky history that's been alluded to, but it would be great to be able to explore more of this.

This will clearly be set just after the events of the prequel trilogy, although before Cassian ever meets his demise. It will detail his journey to becoming part of the Rebel Alliance, as well as some of the most difficult decisions that he has to make.

Confirmed: K-2SO

Cassian and K-2SO are one of the best double acts in Star Wars! That's why K-2SO is technically getting his own solo show along with Cassian, as it looks like the Disney Plus project is going to try to focus on both of them equally.

This is a big move for the character, as he has often been lauded as being one of the funniest droids in all of Star Wars. It'll be interesting to see what adventures K-2SO goes on during this period of time, as he is clearly well experienced the first time we meet him.

Rumored: Boba Fett

There has been a Boba Fett project in development at any given time according to rumors. Although, it seems that the rumors may finally be accurate. While a film based on the bounty hunter might not have been possible, a TV series certainly could be.

There's every chance that Fett turns up in another Disney Plus series, but watching the young bounty hunter become a grizzled veteran would be a really interesting journey to experience. Not only this, but Mandalorian history is so unique, it would be great to see Fett visit Mandalore and try to understand some heritage.

Rumored: Sabine Wren

Sabine Wren has enjoyed a huge amount of time on screen thanks to Lucasfilm's animated division and Rebels. But with talk of her being cast for The Mandalorian there's a possibility Disney may wish to spin the character off.

Many of these live-action additions are with the purpose to continue developing the character. There's also talk of a female solo series by Russian Doll's Leslye Headland, which adds fuel to this potential fire.

Rumored: Darth Vader

Another rumor making the rounds is that Darth Vader will be getting his own series on the streaming service. It's said that the tone of the comics could be transferred over and that Hayden Christensen could appear in some capacity.

It's very likely that a series like this could be an exploration of the relationship between Vader and Palpatine as they fight their way through the galaxy, slowly conquering it. It would have to continue to build the mythos around the Sith Lord as to not damage the character.

Possible: Lando Calrissian

Lando has had a bit of a return as a character and is going to be featured again in the upcoming Star Wars film. Lando was played expertly by Donald Glover in the past, and it could be that he returns to the role in the future via Disney Plus.

Now, if there's a Solo spin-off, then Lando could appear in this. However, the Glover version of the character was so popular that he absolutely deserves his own show. It could explore his rise to the top and how he came to be the leader of Bespin's Cloud City.

Possible: Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka feels like such a new character but has actually been part of the Star Wars universe for some time. Arguably one of Dave Filoni's greatest creations, if any of his characters were to be seen in live-action, it has to be Ahsoka Tano.

What's more, any Ahsoka series could explore where she is in the current part of the timeline we are exploring. After time travel was used to bring her back, there's every chance that she could continue to operate in this new time, learning about everything that has changed.

Possible: Poe Dameron

Poe is one of the greatest surprises of the sequel trilogy, as he's a character that fans have really resonated with. He hasn't been featured as much as we'd like, though, but his comic does do a great job of fleshing him out further.

A TV series about the Resistance pilot and his many missions could be perfect, though. It could replicate in some ways what a Cassian Andor series could achieve, but in a different time and setting. It would also carry more hope and less grit.

Possible: Thrawn

Thrawn is an incredibly successful part of the Star Wars mythos, so much so that he had to be written back into the universe after the continuity was rebooted. The intellectual alien has made many appearances in comics, books, and TV shows, but it could be time to enter the live-action world.

A Thrawn series could start in a similar way to that of an Ahsoka one. The fact is that he isn't dead but lost in some kind of time stream somewhere. He could, therefore, return at any moment, and what better way to explore this than to watch it in a new series alongside Ezra, perhaps.

Possible: Captain Rex

Captain Rex is one of the few clones that have stayed loyal to the Jedi order and the Republic. Fighting with the rebellion, Rex has been an unsung hero throughout Star Wars history.

There's a possibility, with the original Jango Fett actor Temuera Morrison returning to the franchise, that an old man Rex series could be in the works and really fit the tone of the streaming service.

Possible: Captain Phasma

Captain Phasma in The Last Jedi

Captain Phasma is one of the characters from the newest trilogy that was undervalued on screen but was given further development in the supplementary material.

Her novel in particular helped to highlight the faults and strengths of the character. The era of the First Order is an interesting time period to set a show in and Captain Phasma is a character that could certainly garner a lead status.

Possible: Cal Kestis

The star of the Jedi: Fallen Order video game, which looks to be heading towards a sequel, was clearly cast with the idea that one day the character could inhabit a live-action space.

Basing the character model on the actor, Cameron Monaghan, showcases that there's always a possibility that the popular Jedi could continue his journey on Disney+.
