Comparing The First Order with millennial-friendly companies like Google or Pixar is no different than comparing apples with oranges. They're not interested in nap pods or silent retreat getaways to reinforce emotional stability; they want to rule the galaxy. That's essentially their entire M.O., and they've shown no sign of wiggle room. Will that land them on Forbes' 'Top 10 Most Exciting Companies to Work For' list?

The odds aren't good.

Not unlike the Galactic Empire from which they've taken most of their inspiration, the First Order is a tough-as-nails industry that cares as much for its employees as a young Luke Skywalker cared for Moisture Evaporators. Seeing as their HR department is completely nonexistent, the First Order has the luxury of getting away with whatever it'd like—which sometimes results in slave labor-like employment and occasional genocide. So, with that being said, they likely don't want their employees representing them in a negative light, whether those employees are clocked in or not. Still, the actors who play Dark Side enthusiasts in the Star Wars franchise exercise their right to express themselves regardless.

Matt the Radar Technician

When Adam Driver made his debut on Saturday Night Live, it was inevitable that he'd star in a sketch aimed at Star Wars. It also made sense that he'd show up as his character Kylo Ren. However, instead of sporting his traditional black outfit and long black hair, the sketch riffed on the TV show Undercover Boss, with Kylo Ren disguising himself as Matt the Radar Technician.

Even with all the power that Kylo Ren wields, he'd have had a difficult time explaining himself had the higher ups in the First Order found out about this. Starring in a reality show? Kicking back with Starkiller grunts? Sympathizing with the disgruntled staff? In terms of behavior unbecoming of the First Order, this is pretty high on the list.

An Unexpected Love

So far, General Hux and Poe Dameron only interact once in the latest Star Wars trilogy. In the beginning of The Last Jedi, Poe distracts Hux with his usual snarky flair, only to attacks when Domhnall Gleeson's malicious miscreant leasts suspects it. So, between their moral opposition and minimal familiarity, there's no reason why anyone should think these two would share love.

As it were, though, Gleeson and Oscar Issacs went ahead and made it happen anyway.

Posing for a photo at SXSW in Austin, Texas, the seem inseparable, hugging, holding hands, and smiling. One would hope that no one in the First Order would find these, but considering SXSW's popularity and Snoke's proclivity for theatrics, this pic is sure to surface sooner rather than later.

Hans Off, Phasma

When Han Solo and Captain Phasma meet in The Force Awakens, it's not under positive circumstances. In fact, their interaction takes place just moments before Phasma is emptied into the trash compactor by way of an angry former employee (Finn). Even then, Solo is little more than an onlooker as opposed to an active participant. So, when Gwendoline Christie, the actress who plays Phasma, announces publicly that she'd like to become intimate with the "stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder," it certainly comes out of left field.

Still, there's no taking it back once this sort of things goes public. Apparently, beneath that shiny metal armor is a heart yearning for love. It may be yearning for love from a complete stranger, but seeing the complete stranger is Harrison Ford kind of makes it seem slightly more okay.

Snoke's "Raw, Untamed Power"

After The Force Awakens, audiences were hungry for answers regarding Supreme Leader Snoke's story. Is he a character who already exists in Star Wars canon? Is he really as tall as his hologram? Will his scars tie into the overarching plot of the new trilogy?

By the time The Last Jedi came around, audiences were a bit underwhelmed with the outcome. It turns out that his whole backstory was irrelevant, and his entire existence was pretty much a MacGuffin to Kylo Ren and Rey's storyline, which definitely divided a lot of fans.

If you're desperate for some Snoke-specific backstory, you might find some satisfaction in Andy Serkis' filmography. Back in 2004's 13 Going on 30, Serkis danced to Michael Jackson's Thriller alongside co-star Jennifer Garner. While this might not seem like canon, Garner did star in JJ Abrams' Alias...

Oh Shucks, Hux

With the love of dancing seeming like the furthest thing from a First Order enthusiast's mind, it seems as though it's much more popular then they let on. Whether or not it'd be frowned upon is another story...

Pictured here is Domhnall Gleeson (who plays General Hux) losing himself in some moves on the dance floor. Now, it's totally possible that the First Order occasionally hosts mixers in order to boost work morale, but with all the death, misery, and wholly-determined focused aimed at the Dark Side, it doesn't seem super likely.

This is especially true when you look at how drained and miserable Hux looks all the time (specifically in The Last Jedi). You can argue that the bags under his eyes are a result of working a full shift on only two hours of sleep, but his all-around soullessness kind of hints at this not being the case.

He Puts the "Pal" in Palpatine

To younger readers, Sheev Palpatine was OG Snoke. Before the First Order, there was the Galactic Empire, and running the show was the Emperor himself. He was Force-sensitive, diabolical, and fan of black shawls. Most importantly, though, he never found time for traditional pleasures, like grabbing drinks with friends or losing himself in petty gossip (things that might have made him realize how tired and time-wasting his evil pursuits actually were).

As it turns out, though, Ian McDiarmid, the actor who played Palpatine from Return of the Jedi to Revenge of the Sith, was nothing like his character behind the scenes. Kicking back in a pair of shades while on the clock might not have rolled with the actual Emperor, but McDiarmid makes it work.

Hug It Out

Finn and Kylo Ren have a difficult relationship. Before Finn jumped ship and fled the First Order, he was a Stormtrooper answering to Kylo Ren's orders. In the beginning of The Force Awakens, Kylo Ren senses that Finn isn't quite as "one with the Dark Side" as he should be, but he doesn't ultimately act out on his instinct to intervene.

Later on in the movie, the two have the first official lightsaber battle of the movie, and Finn is ultimately left with a giant slice down his back. In The Last Jedi, Finn nearly goes full-kamikaze in order to take Kylo Ren down, but the attempt is thwarted.

So, considering their backstory, you'd be right in assuming their relationship is riddled with nothing but hatred, right? According to John Boyega, who plays Finn, this couldn't be further from the truth. Nobody tell the First Order (or the Resistance, for that matter).

Poe Gets Around

First, Oscar Isaacs surprises Star Wars fans with his behind-the-scenes love of Domhnall Gleeson. Now, it turns out that he's not content with a single forbidden love. At the world premiere of The Force Awakens, Isaacs was playing nice with none other than Adam Driver (aka Kylo Ren) himself. Regarding all the Reylo shippers out there, nobody tell Rey (and as for all the Stormpilot shippers out there, nobody tell Finn).

This is sacrilege at the highest level. Kylo Ren maybe noticeably conflicted with his loyalty to the Dark Side, but at the end of the day, he always comes back to his grandfather's roots (which, incidentally, were also full of conflict).

Getting affectionate with one of the Resistance's most loyal heroes doesn't look good for his public image. It doesn't look good at all.

Not a Team Player

While audiences might have preferred to see more proof of Captain Phasma's toughness, she still managed to win over fans in a number of ways. First, there was her silver suit; then, there was her chilling, soulless demeanor; but what really excited fans most of all was the fact that she was played by Game of Thrones' Brienne of Tarth, Gwendoline Christie.

Phasma isn't on the screen for very long, but she's got plenty of winning qualities that make her rise above mere "throwaway character" territory.

That said, though, when she's strolling around a convention with lightsaber-wielding fans holding a (blue, not red) lightsaber herself, it doesn't send the best message to the First Order. Especially with that beaming smile.

Also, for someone who gave Finn crap for taking off his helmet, this is hypocrisy at its worst.

Don't Let Snoke See This

Kylo Ren is one of Star Wars' most conflicted characters. Luke Skywalker may have had trouble discovering his inner hero and Han Solo might have taken plenty of issue with believing in the Force, but Kylo Ren's is especially troubling. Deep down, there's a decent side to him, and he's constantly playing ping pong with his emotions (so much so that he nearly kills his own mother in the process).

With all of this being the case, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise if he pulls yet another 180 in Episode IX and ditches the Dark Side altogether.

For the time being, though, he's a member of the First Order, and showing his goofy side in an SNL promo really doesn't instill the sort of fear he's supposed to be showcasing. You've got employees, Kylo Ren. You need to set an example.

Finn & Gary

John Boyega's Finn is happily a former member of the First Order. Having been forced into being a Stormtrooper at a young age, he never really a choice. Still, he eventually left that life behind in pursuit of something nobler, so in this case, the photo of him making a kissy face while holding the late Carrie Fisher's pet dog Gary would have certainly not gone over well with his former employers.

This is a job where employees can't even hurting innocent victims without getting into trouble, so playing with animals while simultaneously not wearing their uniform will undeniably raise red flags among the higher-ups.

Irresistible as Gary Fisher may be, there is strict protocol with employee behavior in the First Order, and this doesn't seem like something they'd let fly.

Cracking Jokes

As evil as everyone in the First Order may be, it's General Hux who is really plagued with the most serious personality flaws. He broods and he sneers, he never talks about anything that isn't evil in some specific or roundabout way, and he always looks like the kind of person who's never been hugged before. It's sad - but he's also horrible, so who cares?

Still, though, there's an awful lot of repression on display whenever he's around. Judging by this photo, maybe he's just needed to break out of his shell a bit. Maybe all that pent-up frustration is stemming from a seriously desperate need to live, laugh, and love a little. It's the kind of behavior that would no doubt get him thrown to the curb by his employers, but that's not to say it wouldn't help him on an emotional level.

An Unexpected Love, Part 2

When it comes to unexpected loves in the First Order, Hux and Kylo Ren aren't the only ones capable of taking people by surprise. Despite her seething hatred of John Boyega's Finn, Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma still found the time to discover an intimate bond between the two of them. It turns out that when her armor comes off, so does her emotional guard. It's definitely not the most likely of romances, but everybody loves a good twist.

Well, except for an institution like the First Order. Seeing as they likely hired someone like Phasma for her resoluteness, finding out that she's softened up on account of love (with a turncoat, no less) may certainly affect any shot at a raise or promotion— if not her entire job as a whole.

Precious Snoke

Despite the fact that audiences don't see an awful lot of Supreme Leader Snoke in either The Force Awakens or The Last Jedi, he still makes quite an impression. The reason being? Andy Serkis' performance.

Though not as central as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings or as colossal as Kong in King Kong, Serkis brings his A-game to this character (even though said character does little more than sit in a chair). He masterfully proves Snoke's intensity and bloodlust with actions as subtle as his body language and vocal inflections.

However, when he's recreating his Gollum voice while reading tweets from Donald Trump on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the menace disappears. All of that dread he perfected vanishes, and where there was once a powerful leader capable of killing someone with a simple wave of his hand is now a British character actor doing his best to entertain a talk show audience.

First Order of Business: Say Cheese

While employee morale is definitely something most companies should strive to achieve, the First Order is an exception. They excel when they're at their most horrible, so having a bunch of employees wasting time enjoying themselves (as well as each other's company) risks negatively affecting their goals.

When three of the highest-ranking employees in the First Order are caught goofing around together in a photo shoot, it doesn't exactly send the best message. These three are meant to incite fear, not fun. They're supposed to make people tremble at their feet, not wish they could party with them.

That said, the standout transgression here is how Kylo Ren is behaving with Hux. By not making Hux fear him, Kylo Ren risks mutiny. So really, he's hurting himself in the long run, and by extension, the future of the First Order

Family Matters

What do First Order employees do when they're off the clock? Despite being involved in a constant state of war, do they get free weekends; and if so, are they allowed to essentially do whatever they please? With the sort of power they're trying to exude, probably not. But can rules really stop someone from pursuing their passions, even when said pursuits are punishable by imprisonment— if not death? Well, just look to General Hux for the answer.

Domhnall Gleeson may have enjoyed working alongside his father Brendan and brother Brian in The Walworth Farce, but he put himself at risk. The First Order doesn't exactly seem like the most accepting or forward-thinking of work environments, so catching their military general dressed in drag is unlikely to go down well. It's unfortunate, but it's true.
