Trailers for Disney+'s The Book of Boba Fett suggest the show will make a deleted scene from the first Star Wars movie canon. "If there's a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet that it's farthest from," Luke Skywalker complained in the first Star Wars film. He grew up hating his life on Tatooine, desperate for adventure, so much so Luke even considered joining the Empire. George Lucas originally fleshed out some of Luke's private life, but the scenes were deleted.

One of the most popular deleted scenes saw Luke visit Tosche Station, where he met a number of his friends. They included Camie Marstrap (Koo Stark) and Laze Loneozner (Anthony Forrest), a young couple who had ties to Luke's Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. Most viewers regard deleted scenes as non-canon, but Jason Fry's novelization of Star Wars: The Last Jedi brought Camie back into official canon when Luke dreamed of the life he could have lived had he never left Tatooine. Luke Skywalker dreamed of a reality where he married Camie, perhaps hinting as a teenager Luke had something of a crush on her.

Luke may have believed his homeworld of Tatooine was irrelevant to galactic affairs, but it's proved rather important to the broader Star Wars saga. The Mandalorian returned to Tatooine several years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and it has now established Boba Fett as the local crimelord in that time period. Boba Fett's story will continue in The Book of Boba Fett, due to launch on December 29, 2021, and Lucasfilm has recently released a Book of Boba Fett trailer celebrating his triumphant return to Tatooine. One shot (noted by one Redditor here) shows crooks terrorizing a couple who look remarkably like an older Camie and Laze.

Assuming this is indeed Camie and Laze, it would suggest Luke's childhood friends stayed together and remained on Tatooine, never heeding the siren song of adventure that Skywalker found so irresistible. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean they are safe from harm. The Empire may have fallen, but crime lords come and go, and clearly they've gotten caught up in affairs surrounding Boba Fett and his attempt to establish a criminal empire. It's unlikely the couple will have a major role, as it's more reasonable to assume one gang is attacking Tatooine in an attempt to undermine Boba Fett's authority, and their home is simply collateral to the event. Regardless, this would make Laze canon as well as Camie, and it would solidify their relationship as well.

The interesting question is whether Luke Skywalker's alternative life, which he dreamed of in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, was even possible. If the couple seen in the trailer for The Book of Boba Fett really are Camie and Laze, then they stayed together all these years, and Luke may well have been deluding himself that he'd end up with Camie when he remembered his childish infatuation. The Book of Boba Fett would therefore add another level of depth to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, because even Luke's dream of the life he could have had was more fantastical than he'd ever admit.
