Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Book of Boba Fett episode 2

The Book of Boba Fett has revealed that Tatooine's new crime lord is going to be at odds with the Hutts and their Wookiee enforcer, revealed to be a popular character from the comics named Black Krrsantan. A formidable bounty hunter with a dark history, this new episode marks Black Krrsantan's first live-action debut in the Star Wars galaxy. Working a variety of jobs during the original trilogy era, Black Krrsantan has had dealings with Jabba the Hutt, Darth Vader, and even Obi-Wan Kenobi.

In The Book of Boba Fett episode 2, Boba was surprised to learn that the Twins—Hutt siblings revealed to be the cousins of Jabba himself—have come to Mos Espa. Seeking to take Jabba's palace and holdings for themselves, which Boba claimed after killing Bib Fortuna, it's clear that a reckoning will be had between Lord Fett and the Hutts who refuse to see him as anything more than the bounty hunter he used to be while working for Jabba. However, it looks as though the one who will be fighting on their behalf is none other than Black Krrsantan, the Wookiee bounty hunter who Boba once worked with years before.

Not only is Black Krrsantan's role in The Book of Boba Fett a great tie to the canon comics that have been published by Marvel since 2015, but his presence alongside Jabbba's powerful Hutt family members makes sense considering the brutal Wookiee's history. As such, it seems likely that fans will be seeing Black Krrsantan's role expand very soon—perhaps even beyond the scope of The Book of Boba Fett.

Black Krrsantan's Star Wars History: Why The Wookiee Became A Bounty Hunter

As far as Wookiees are concerned, Black Krrsantan is as bad and brutal as they come. Having disgraced his people, Krrsantan was forced to leave the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. Shortly after this, the black-furred Wookie volunteered to become a gladiator, rather than being captured like most. While he eventually realized the error of his decision, Krrsantan had no choice but to go through harsh training to become a gladiator against his will and his knuckles were filled with metal so that he could punch even harder beyond his great Wookiee strength.

After proving himself to be incredibly formidable and ruthless, Black Krrsantan eventually gained his freedom, turning to bounty hunting where he earned himself quite the reputation across the galaxy. However, this is why Boba Fett refers to Black Krrsantan as a "gladiator" when he speaks with the Twins in The Book of Boba Fett episode 2. Not only does Fett know all about the Wookiee bounty hunter and his past, but he and Black Krrsantan used to work together during the original trilogy era.

How Boba Fett's Wookiee Connects To Darth Vader & Jabba The Hutt

Readers of the comics first meet Black Krrsantan working for Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine, serving as a hunter on retainer for the gangster just like Boba Fett once was. Having already been working for Jabba for years before Darth Vader #1 from Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca, Krrsantan's reputation made him the perfect hunter to be hired by Vader himself, alongside Fett. While Boba was sent to discover the identity of the pilot who destroyed the first Death Star (Luke Skywalker), Krrsantan was sent to capture an agent of the Emperor who had secret dealings Vader wished to learn about.

This debut leads to Krrsantan not only working for Darth Vader but also putting him in conflict with the Rebel Alliance. On the plant Vrogas Vas, Black Krrsantan tried to capture Luke Skywalker, only for Chewbacca himself to intervene. The two mighty Wookiees fought to a stalemate. While he was also hired by Vader at one point to bring in the rogue archaeologist Doctor Aphra, Krrsantan ultimately saved her life after the Sith lord jettisoned her into space, because she owed the Wookiee money. However, The Book of Boba Fett has revealed that he's now in the employ of Jabba's twin cousins following the events of Return of the Jedi.

How Boba Fett's Wookiee Bounty Hunter Can Appear In Obi-Wan Kenobi

It should also be noted that Black Krrsantan could be featured in more Star Wars series beyond The Book of Boba Fett. The upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series could easily feature the Wookiee bounty hunter in some capacity considering their history in the comics. Discovered by Luke Skywalker, who retrieved Obi-Wan's journals following A New Hope, Luke learned about Kenobi's exile on Tatooine, including a time when Jabba the Hutt enforced a water tax on all the moisture farmers during a heavy drought season, including Luke's Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. Due to Obi-Wan's protection of the Lars' moisture farm, Jabba sent Krrsantan to deal with the mysterious stranger who was interfering in his business.

This lead to an impressive duel between Black Krrsantan and Obi-Wan, who was forced to wield his lightsaber to save Owen's life after he was taken hostage by the Wookiee. In the end, Kenobi blinded the Wookiee in one eye and forced Krrsantan's retreat, keeping Luke and his family safe. As a result, this altercation could certainly be adapted for Obi-Wan Kenobi, not only showcasing Obi-Wan's struggles to resist being a Jedi but also giving Black Krrsantan another opportunity to be featured in another live-action project. Furthermore, Black Krrsantan is a great sign that more characters from the canonical comics could also be adapted to live-action, like the immensely popular Doctor Aphra. In any case, Black Krrsantan is a most welcome addition to The Book of Boba Fett, and it will certainly be exciting to see him face off either with Fennec Shand or with Lord Fett himself as the series continues.
