Rey's Speeder from Star Wars: The Force Awakens is getting a 6-inch scale Black Series release this fall. Without question, the movie merchandising industry was revolutionized by Star Wars in 1977 with the release of movie-themed action figures. Since that point, the figures have evolved from generic representations of the characters to multi-articulated and screen-accurate sculpts of the actors, which brought such cultural icons as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo to life.

One of the companies that's been aiming at collector-minded fans is Hasbro, especially since it began releasing its Black Series line in 6-inch scale a few years back. But while fans at first only had the opportunities to buy the characters, Hasbro took a big step last year with the release of a Force Awakens Tie Fighter with a Tie Pilot figure. Labeled with the number 01 on the box, the 6-inch scale vehicle release implied there would more to come.

Hasbro made good on that suggested promised Tuesday ahead of Star Wars Celebration with the news that it is going to release a 6-inch Black Series Rey's Speeder and a Rey figure, featuring an all-new sculpt of Rey (Daisy Ridley) with her scavenger headgear on. The highly detailed vehicle comes on base, while the figure will have 28 points of articulation.

While the toymaker released official photos of Rey's Speeder and the new figure, fans will also get a chance to see it displayed at the celebration in Orlando this weekend at Hasbro Booth #2744. The company says the item, which has a retail price of about $60, will be on store shelves this fall.

The announcement of the Black Series Rey's Speeder and Rey figure will hopefully be the first of many from Hasbro and other Star Wars toy and collectible companies make as Star Wars Celebration unfolds. Just the news of this new Black Series release alone is enough to stir up the anticipation for Force Friday in September, where the new toys and collectibles for Star Wars: The Last Jedi (and with any luck, new releases from the saga including more Rogue One items) will debut in stores en masse across the globe.

The official date for this year's Force Friday – which began two years ago with the release of toys for The Force Awakens – is Sept. 1, and hopefully the new Rey set piece and figure will be a part of it.
