The Book of Boba Fett has been a treasure trove of Easter eggs and cameos from characters from the original Star Wars trilogy. It's also a boon for fans of characters from comics. Black Krrsantan, a Wookiee bounty hunter who debuted in 2016's Darth Vader #1, made his live-action debut in The Book of Boba Fett, "Chapter 2: The Tribes of Tatooine." Comic book fans know Black Krrsantan has a lot of history with Boba Fett.
Co-created by writer Kieron Gillen and artist Salvador Larocca, Black Krrsantan has emerged as a fan favorite in recent years, and his cameo in The Book of Boba Fett is unlikely to be his only appearance. His comic book story suggests that he could be part of Boba Fett's future and also the past of other major characters such as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Black Krrsantan Is A Disgraced Wookiee
Black Krrsantan is one of the most intimidating Wookiees ever presented in Star Wars, and it turns out that he's a particularly grumpy example of the species. Black Krrsantan disgraced his own people and had to flee Kashyyyk, but the exact reason why remains a mystery.
His dark past is referenced quickly and vaguely in Star Wars #20 from 2016, thanks to some cryptic insight from Obi-Wan Kenobi, who says he knows why Black Krrsantan was banned from Kashyyyk.
Black Krrsantan Learned From The Xonti Brothers
Some indication of Black Krrsantan's dark past is evidenced in the fact that the first people he looked for when he left Kashyyyk were the Xonti Brothers, a pair of slave owners who ran gladiatorial pit fights. Black Krrsantan learned several fighting skills and styles from them.
One of the best Han Solo quotes from the original Star Wars trilogy makes it clear that Wookiees are notorious for ripping people's arms off in general, so Black Krrsantan's ambition to become an even deadlier fighter makes him more fearsome.
Black Krrsantan's Body Is Modified For Fighting
Black Krrsantan did become a gladiator in the comics, which Boba Fett references in his tense face-off with the Wookiee in The Book of Boba Fett. Krrsantan also became even more powerful and intimidating than he already was when the Xonti Brothers altered his body.
The Xonti Brothers filled Black Krrsantan's knuckles with metal, an enhancement comic book fans of Wolverine will find familiar. They did this not only to make him stronger but more attractive to potential buyers in the galaxy's ugly slave trade.
Darth Vader Hired Black Krrsantan As A Bounty Hunter
Black Krrsantan would eventually escape the slave trade and become a bounty hunter, which is how comic book fans first met him. In Darth Vader #1, Vader hires him in tandem with Boba Fett for a top-secret mission to find out about a mysterious Imperial agent.
He has a decent working relationship with Boba Fett at this point in time, not long after the events of A New Hope. He at least has Fett's respect, though this clearly isn't the case when the two cross paths in The Book of Boba Fett.
Black Krrsantan Hunted Cylo IV
Darth Vader hires Boba Fett to find Luke Skywalker, but Black Krrsantan's mission is much more delicate. Vader hired Black Krrsantan to hunt down Clyo IV and find out why this person had the favor of the Emperor when Vader had no idea who he was.
Cylo IV was a mysterious Imperial agent involved in cloning and other strange experiments. Black Krrsantan captured him, which proved his mettle, but he wasn't able to find out what Cylo IV was up to.
Black Krrsantan Fought Obi-Wan Kenobi
One of Black Krrsantan's most intriguing moments in the comics has an enormous bearing on future live action. In Star Wars #20, he fought Obi-Wan Kenobi when a mission brought him to the Lars homestead on Tatooine.
In the fight, Obi-Wan Kenobi wounds Black Krrsantan, slashing him across the face with his lightsaber. This scar is visible on the Wookiee in The Book of Boba Fett, and the bounty hunter is a character who may appear in the Obi-Wan Ken0bi streaming series.
Black Krrsantan Worked With Doctor Aphra
Star Wars comic book fans likely know Black Krrsantan best from his association with Doctor Aphra, who has become one of the most popular comic characters in the Disney era. In Darth Vader #7, Aphra recruited him for one of her biggest heists.
Doctor Aphra needed the best of the best, and Black Krrsantan was perfect for her plan to steal the enormous treasure of the Son-tuul Pride, a criminal organization that the Empire had broken up. With his help, she was successful.
Black Krrsantan Hunted Doctor Aphra
Doctor Aphra's allies often become her enemies, and such was the case with Black Krrsanatn. When Darth Vader soured on Aphra, he sent Black Krrsantan after her. Krrsantan captured Aphra and brought her back to the Executor, Darth Vader's flagship and one of the best Imperial starships in Star Wars.
Things went sideways when Cylo V attacked the ship. Black Krrsantan fought alongside Aphra to escape, and it's now very possible that fans will see what their current relationship is in live-action, as Aphra can't be far behind.
Black Krrsantan Fought Chewbacca
Black Krrsantan is one of the most intimidating Wookiees in Star Wars, but he may not be the strongest. in Star Wars #14, the bounty hunter went after Luke Skywalker, but he got Chewbacca instead. Chewie defeated Black Krrsantan in hand-to-hand combat.
Black Krrsantan eventually got the drop on Chewbacca, but this was on a technicality. Chewbacca had been poisoned by Triple-Zero and wasn't in a position to fight. This eventually allowed the bounty hunter to overpower him, but C-3PO ended the fight by electrocuting Krrsantan.
Black Krrsantan Worked For Jabba The Hutt
Comic book fans know Black Krrsantan worked for Jabba the Hutt, so it's no surprise that, in The Book of Boba Fett, he's working for Jabba's twin cousins, who are new and original characters to the series.
It makes sense the twins would employ Black Krrsantan both for his fearsome resume and familiarity with the Hutt clan. It's likely they will send him into battle against Boba Fett to reclaim the domain of Jabba the Hutt before the end of the series.
