Darth Maul actor Sam Witwer teases how Star Wars: The Bad Batch will explore stories that other Star Wars content has yet to do. Even though the future of Star Wars movies is a bit unclear at the moment, TV shows of different varieties continue to move forward. In addition to season 2 of The Mandalorian and other Disney+ original shows, Lucasfilm recently finished the revival of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The seventh and final season was a huge hit and helped get Star Wars: The Bad Batch announced.

The upcoming Star Wars animated series is a spinoff of The Clone Wars, as the enhanced clones known as The Bad Batch who debuted in season 7 will now get their own show. The series will begin sometime after Order 66, with the clones searching for purpose. This will turn them to a life of daring mercenary missions instead of serving as soldiers in a galactic war. But, the announcement of Star Wars: The Bad Batch left many wanting more details about the show.

Now, Star Wars voice actor Sam Witwer, who is best known as Starkiller in the Force Unleashed games or Darth Maul in the animated shows, is teasing what fans can expect from Star Wars: The Bad Batch. He recently shared his thoughts on the next animated Star Wars series during a Twitch stream (via Heroic Hollywood), teasing how The Bad Batch will explore an area of the galaxy that hasn't been shown too much.

I will tell you it looks really, really good. It looks absolutely beautiful. The story…at least I know where the story begins in the first several episodes and I am very pleased because it’s a little area of Star Wars that has not been often visited.

Witwer's response will likely leave Star Wars fans wondering exactly what "little area of Star Wars" the upcoming show will explore. Based on the few official details that Lucasfilm has shared, it is possible that Witwer is referring to what happened after Order 66. The movies never really explored the fallout of Anakin Skywalker's turn and the Emperor's ascension, while Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order only briefly touched on life after Order 66. With clones leading The Bad Batch, their lives after Order 66 could be eye-opening.

Since Witwer is clearly excited about Star Wars: The Bad Batch, it won't be surprising to see him play a role in the series. He's voiced at least one character in every animated Star Wars TV show so far, so he could play a new character or two in The Bad Batch. Of course, there's a distinct possibility that Witwer could also reprise his role as Darth Maul here. The former Sith apprentice's story has some gaps between The Clone Wars and Solo: A Star Wars Story that could be filled, and perhaps Star Wars: The Bad Batch will be the place these connections are made.
