Throughout both seasons of The Bad Batch, it has become clear that the show is filling in a crucial part of the Star Wars timeline. From exploring the true emerging power of the Empire to the replacement of clones with stormtroopers, The Bad Batch has detailed essential events in the Star Wars galaxy shortly after Order 66.

However, one of the biggest surprises was that The Bad Batch was seemingly setting up the events that take place after Return of the Jedi. Be it the foreshadowing of the wider story The Mandalorian seems to be building to or the intricacies of Palpatine's cloning plans from the sequel trilogy, The Bad Batch's importance to the broader Star Wars franchise cannot be understated. With Star Wars: The Bad Batch's season 2 ending, these story elements came to a head and revealed everything known thus far about Palpatine's plan for cloning technology.

Palpatine's Cloning Plan Predates The Empire

One of the interesting reveals about Palpatine's plan for cloning revealed during The Bad Batch is that it predates the official rise of the Empire. As early as the series premiere - which takes place mere days after Order 66 - it was evident that the Empire had plans for Kamino and controlling the ways of cloning. However, The Bad Batch season 2 also introduced two other elements that prove the Emperor's cloning plans were established before Order 66 was committed.

The elements in question are Dr. Hemlock and the Advanced Science Division, located at Mount Tantiss. Hemlock was revealed in The Bad Batch to have been removed from the Republic due to his unorthodox methods, which Palpatine became aware of and put him at the head of the Empire's Advanced Science. The Advanced Science Division was eventually relocated to Mount Tantiss, which already had an extensive facility that was undoubtedly being constructed before the Empire rose to power. Hemlock uses Mount Tantiss to experiment with various methods of cloning and has one specific use for Kaminoan scientist Nala Se related directly to Palpatine.

Palpatine's Cloning Plan Built On Kaminoan Secrets

This links to all the evidence that Palpatine's cloning plan is built on Kaminoan technology. As became known during Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, the Kaminoans were at the forefront of the galaxy when it came to cloning technology. The Kaminoans were responsible for the millions of clones of Jango Fett that became the Grand Army of the Republic, something the Emperor clearly kept a close eye on.

During The Bad Batch, the Empire has destroyed Kamino's cloning facility and kidnaped the planet's chief scientists in an effort to control cloning. However, one thing The Bad Batch made clear was that the Empire - and Dr. Hemlock - cannot achieve Palpatine's grand plan without the aid of the Kaminoans themselves. This connects to The Bad Batch season 2's finale, in which Hemlock captures Omega in order to coerce Nala Se into undertaking the Emperor's plans. This all proves that the Emperor's cloning plans would not be possible without the Kaminoans, and the secrets they possessed regarding clone technology.

The Empire Secretly Had Another Jango Fett Clone

Emerie Karr from Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2

Arguably the biggest reveal of Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2's finale which will undoubtedly play into the future of Palpatine's plans is that the Empire secretly hid another Jango Fett clone. Before The Bad Batch aired, only Boba Fett existed as a completely unmodified clone of his father, though the show revealed Omega also fit this description. Throughout The Bad Batch season 2, a doctor named Emerie Karr has been shown to aid Hemlock at Mount Tantiss.

At the end of The Bad Batch season 2's final episode, Emerie revealed to Omega that they are sisters. There is the possibility that Emerie is a third unmodified Jango Fett clone, alongside Omega and Boba. Everyone more likely, however, is that she's the fifth clone in the batch that became Clone Force 99, as hinted at in season. How she ended up in service of the science division remains a mystery, but there's great importance to her story. Be it that Nala Se also has a fondness for Emerie as well as Omega, or whether Omega will be persuaded to work with the Empire, only Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3 can further develop Emerie's importance.

Star Wars Confirms Omega Is Key To Palpatine's Cloning Plans

The Bad Batch season 2 ended with Omega being captured by Hemlock and taken to Mount Tantiss, proving that the young clone is important to Palpatine's plans. While it is unlikely the Empire requires Omega for a scientific purpose, The Bad Batch has made clear thus far that Nala Se has a fondness for Omega she does not share for any other clone. This was revealed by the former Prime Minister of Kamino, Lama Su.

Since then, Hemlock and the Empire have been seeking Omega. This is because they intend to manipulate Nala Se into working for the Emperor and carrying out his secret plans by threatening the young clone's safety. Without Omega, it is unlikely that anything in the galaxy would persuade Nala Se to commit to the Emperor's plans. This only goes to show how crucial she is to the Emperor, and could be the catalyst that leads to Snoke and other Palpatine's clones due to the manipulation of Nala Se.

The Kaminoans Believed The Emperor's Plans Were Impossible

Despite the end of The Bad Batch season 2 hinting that Omega would push Nala Se into doing the Emperor's bidding, an interesting revelation was shown. After seeing that Omega had been captured, Nala Se insists that she does not think what the Emperor wants is possible. Hemlock then tells her to "make it possible," threatening Omega in the process. This could explain why it seems as if The Mandalorian is continuing this story, and hinting at Palpatine's clone plan.

It could be revealed that Nala Se began working on the Emperor's plans during the Dark Times, which took decades to carry out given Nala Se does not believe it possible. This could then lead to the introduction of characters such as Dr. Pershing from The Mandalorian, who was shown to be wearing a Kaminoan uniform. Both cloning stories of each show could be shown to be connected, all due to Nala Se not believing what the Emperor had planned for cloning technology was possible in Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2.
