With the end of The Bad Batch's season 1, fans were given a good launching off point for the rest of the show and managed to get some questions from other pieces of Star Wars answered. Regarding clones specifically, both The Clone Wars and Rebels left fans with a handful of questions, some of which The Bad Batch managed to answer in season 1.
While many questions remained unanswered, such as the whereabouts of Wolffe or anything regarding Barriss Offee, through returns and the general narrative of the series, fans did get some long-awaited answers from the other two animated shows.
Do Clone Force 99 Succumb To Their Chips?
Clone Force 99 were properly introduced to fans in season 7 of The Clone Wars with their own arc. When the arc got released, fans started wondering about the inhibitor chip and whether or not it would change Clone Force 99 since they are advanced clones.
This question is unsurprisingly answered swiftly in the show's opening episode, "Aftermath." Fans get it confirmed that they actually have chips, but they do not manage to takeover or truly affect Hunter, Tech, Echo, or Wrecker - with the latter having his activated later due to head trauma. Crosshair, though, did have his inhibitor chip activated to the point where he wanted to perform Order 66. This made Crosshair one of the main villains and best characters. It did not seem as full-blown as other clones who performed Order 66 until the Empire ramped it up in the Kaminoan labs.
Did The Empire Keep Enhanced Clones Around?
Clone Force 99 were said to be defective clones with some serious enhancements (as it turns out, they were deliberately created enhanced clones). While the Empire had no use for regs, some wondered if they would want to keep enhanced clones around.
The Empire genuinely seemed to want to use the skills of Clone Force 99 at first - had they been more obedient like Crosshair. They had won many battles in the Clone Wars and were incredibly skilled soldiers. By the end of the show, though, it became clear that the Empire did not really want to use clones at all and were fully on-board with mass amounts of basic troopers. It will be interesting to see how the Empire treats Crosshair in season 2, but it is unlikely to be warm.
What Happened To Cut Lawquane?
Cut Lawquane was one of the many fascinating clones to have his story told in The Clone Wars, being a deserter with a new life of farming with a family. For a long time, fans wondered about how Order 66 would have affected him or if it did.
Apparently, it never did. Rex informed him of their existence after Order 66. With his desertion, distance from the war, distance from any Jedi, and overall life away from the Republic, Cut thankfully did not fall victim to the inhibitor chip.
How Quickly Were Clones Phased Out?
Fans knew they would see the gradual phasing out of the clone troopers in favor of stormtroopers. But, in the question of how quickly this happened, not many could have predicted the immediacy of it.
When Clone Force 99 arrived back to Kamino from Kaller, clones have already been stripped of any individuality, resembling stormtroopers, and there were Empire symbols dotted around in place of Republic ones. By the end of the show, Ralph McQuarrie-inspired TK troopers were all over the Galaxy, and the clones had been completely removed from Kamino, taken to an unknown location.
Do Clones Rebel Against The Empire?
The individuality of the clones and the idea that blindly following orders is wrong was a huge part of The Clone Wars, and building from that, many wondered if they would see clones flat-out reject to follow along with the Empire and rebel instead.
Of course, this happened with Clone Force 99, who actively fought against the Empire. However, Gregor also rebelled against the Empire, Rex was out working on his own resistance movement, and Howzer refused to stand back and allow the treatment of Ryloth to continue, with many of his men joining him in solidarity against the Empire. In season 2, this plotline could get explored further, maybe even bringing in Wolffe, whose Clone Wars ending and lack of story clarity have stuck with fans.
What Happened To Kamino?
Kamino and the Kaminoans are scarcely brought up in Star Wars content beyond The Clone Wars, and for a long, while fans wanted to know what happened to it all, to Tipoca City and the cloning facility.
In the final two episodes of season 1, fans bear witness to the Empire destroying it all. They clear the clones and Kaminoans, with them taken to different, mostly unknown locations, and decimate Tipoca City from above with Star Destroyers. It is sickening, harrowing, and the show's most heartbreaking few minutes.
What Happened To Cad Bane?
When the face-off between Cad Bane and Boba Fett was never shown, and Cad Bane simply did not appear in on-screen Star Wars for a long time, fans began speculating about the character's fate.
Then in The Bad Batch, he made his long-awaited return, confirming his survival after the Clone Wars and seemingly having endured a face-off with Boba. Bane was a great inclusion to the show, having so many great moments packed into his short time on it. As he always has been, he was great in his ruthless bounty hunter capacity, which fans want to see more of, even in live-action.
Was Gregor's Chip Removed Before Or After Order 66?
Gregor has been a constant source of questions for Star Wars TV fans for years. At first, his story seemed so cut and dry that he died saving D-squad from battle droids. Then, he popped up in Rebels with Rex and Wolffe with no inhibitor chip, shocking many.
Fans did not get all the answers on Gregor in The Bad Batch, but they did find out that he did join the Empire; not for long at all, but he still did it. He still had his inhibitor chip at the point where he left the Empire, meaning it was not removed until later, likely thanks to Rex, something that may well happen in the show's second season.
What Was Rex Doing After He & Ahsoka Parted Ways?
In The Clone Wars finale, Rex and Ahsoka faked their own deaths and then went on to part ways into the Outer Rim. Not much was known about Rex's immediate activity until The Bad Batch.
As it turns out, Rex formed his own resistance movement, enrolling Trace and Rafa Martez in the cause and seemingly looking to take on clones who defect. Fans are bound to see a lot more Rex in season 2, and finding out more about this movement is an idea that gets fans of the character very excited.
