A new Andor trailer is officially released. The show is the latest Star Wars TV series made for Disney+. A prequel to spinoff film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it sees Diego Luna reprise his role as Cassian Andor and has already been confirmed to run for two seasons. Andor season 1 takes place five years prior to Rogue One, depicting Cassian's first steps in his transformation from petty thief to dedicated Rebellion spy who ultimately gave his life to the cause.

While Cassian is the titular character and the primary focus of Andor, marketing materials have illustrated the show's massive scope. It isn't just an origin story for Cassian himself, it's set to showcase the origins of the Rebel Alliance, as a scrappy group of freedom fighters starts to push back against the Empire during the height of their reign. Characters such as Mon Mothma and Saw Gerrera have been featured in trailers, hinting at their key roles on Andor. With the show's premiere right around the corner, Lucasfilm is continuing this marketing strategy.

During their presentation at the D23 Expo, Lucasfilm unveiled the final Andor trailer, teasing the dire stakes and conflict at the heart of the show. The preview highlights epic battles and political intrigue. Watch it in the space below:

The trailer sets up Stellan Skarsgård's Luthen Rael as one of the driving forces behind the Rebellion. Interestingly, even Mon Mothma seems astonished by his actions, expressing concern over the possible consequences. This hints at a fascinating dynamic between the two, and it will be nice to see future Rebellion leader Mon Mothma in a new light. Even though she's appeared in two Star Wars movies, she's a character who hasn't had much screen time, and it sounds like Andor will really flesh her out, allowing audiences to appreciate her contributions to the Alliance even more. In addition to character relationships, the latest Andor trailer does a great job of showcasing intense set pieces as the underdog Rebels go up against the might of the Empire.

Rogue One was noteworthy for its darker, grittier tone compared to other Star Wars projects, and it looks like Andor is incorporating that aesthetic. Even though the series was made for a streaming service, the visuals have a very cinematic quality to them, which can be attributed to the creative team's decision to shoot on real locations and sets. That approach differs from the other live-action Star Wars shows, which made extensive use of the StageCraft technology to create virtual environments. It will be interesting to see how Andor turns out and if it can deliver another strong Star Wars outing for Disney+. Rogue One is widely regarded as one of Disney's best Star Wars movies, so ideally its spinoff show will follow suit.
