Andor star Adria Arjona finds it “amazing” that she is joining the Star Wars universe for the upcoming Rogue One spinoff series. Andor, which is due to debut on Disney+ later this year, is set to follow the early adventures of Rebel alliance hero Cassian Andor (played by Diego Luno), who was introduced in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Following recent hits including The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor is set to be an action-packed series set in the beloved Star Wars universe.

Arjona is set to appear in the show in a currently unknown role. The Puerto-Rican actress has previously starred in crime series including True Detective and Narcos. Arjona was also the lead in the short-lived but cult-appreciated series Emerald City; where she played Dorothy. Along with blockbuster movie roles in Pacific Rim: Uprising and 6 Underground, the rising star also plays Martine Bancroft in Sony’s new Spider-verse spinoff movie Morbius.

“Oh, my God. I think they hired the wrong person, because it's so hard not to share everything. It's amazing. I can feel already the love and appreciation from the people, and I could feel people welcoming me into both universes. I don't know, it feels really cool. I almost got goosebumps when you said it. I still can't believe it.”

Cassian Andor On Jedha

Star Wars has been a dominant force in pop culture since 1977, and is more omnipresent than ever these days following Disney's Lucasfilm acquisition. The franchise has expanded to include several additional films and TV shows, giving many actors the opportunity to lend their talents to the property. There might be more Star Wars being made than ever before now, but that doesn't take away from the significance of landing a part. Arjona is obviously aware of how beloved Star Wars is and is excited for her chance to add to the legacy. Whenever Andor premieres on Disney+, hopefully audiences respond positively to her character and match her enthusiasm.

Arjona is experiencing the luck many actors only dream of, by joining both the Marvel and Star Wars worlds around the same time. Assuming both achieve success, this could be a springboard for the up-and-comer to really make a name for herself and receive more opportunities as she looks to grow her career. Arjona may not have let details of her role in Andor slip just yet, but she couldn't contain her understandable excitement and anticipation. It will be exciting to see what she brings to the role.
