UPDATE: Disney has since debunked that Andor season 2 is filming in November

Andor star Stellan Skarsgård says upcoming Star Wars' show will have a season 2. The launch of Disney+ in 2019 has enabled the House of Mouse and its subsidiaries to explore franchises on the small screen in a way that hasn't been done before. Lucasfilm is making good use of this opportunity, expanding its Star Wars universe with massively popular shows like The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and The Bad Batch. There are more shows waiting to be launched, including Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ashoka, but the series that is next in line is Andor, Tony Gilroy's prequel to Rogue One, which marks the return of Diego Luna as the rebel-spy Cassian Andor. Andor has been in the works for quite a while since the series was substantially delayed due to COVID-19. But now Skarsgård, who stars in Andor alongside Luna, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O'Reilly, has an exciting update.

In an interview with the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter, Stellan Skarsgård revealed that Andor has been renewed for a second season at Disney+, even ahead of the launch of its freshman run. Skarsgård says that work on Andor season 2 will hopefully begin this fall. The actor isn't quite sure about when the show will air, but he believes that the hiatus between seasons 1 and 2 wouldn't be too long. Read what he said (translated from Swedish) below:

"We start with "Dune 2" in July. And then in the autumn, it's time for the second season of the Star Wars series Andor. I do not know when they will start broadcasting it. It will take some time, so that it does not take too long between season one and season two."

The news about Andor season 2 is a fruitful reward for those who have been anxiously awaiting the series. It's been a long time since the series was first announced, but now it finally looks like Andor has been able to work past its hurdles and get back on track to entertain Star Wars enthusiasts. Right now, not much is known about the second season apart from what Skarsgård has revealed. But given that Lucasfilm is aiming to start work on the new season soon, they will hopefully announce a release date for Andor season 1 before too long.
