Matt Lanter and Ashley Eckstein who voice Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, respectively, in past Star Wars animated series have reunited to work together again for an undisclosed project. The two have worked across several Star Wars properties bringing their characters to life on the animated TV shows including Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, as well as some video games, like Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Lightsaber Duels, Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars and Disney Infinity 3.0.

The last time we saw the two, however, was when Lanter came back to voice Anakin Skywalker in the Rebels season 2 finale after Darth Vader's mask was cracked open during the Sith's battle with his former padawan. Since then, we have not really seen either Ahsoka or Vader appear in the ongoing animated Star Wars show. While Vader was cast aside with the introduction of season 3 main villain, Grand Admiral Thrawn, Ahsoka, on the other hand, is a totally different mystery. Following her emotional one-on-one with her old master, she decided to stay in the crumbling Malachor and walk towards the collapsing temple rousing the controversial debate whether she is still alive or not.

The snap of Lanter and Eckstein comes from the latter's official Twitter account where she teases fans about the two of them recording together. "How can your Monday be UGH when you get to record with Matt Lanter in your Matt Lanter shirt???" she jokingly captioned the photo. Unfortunately, Eckstein did not even leave any clues as to what project they are working on and the picture itself does not give anything away.

UPDATE: Eckstein has since confirmed that the two were recording vocals for Forces of Destiny. The rest of this article has been left as it was originally published.

Arguably the easiest and most logical guess as to what Lanter and Eckstein may be working on is for the upcoming season of Rebels. The Dave Filoni show is gearing up for their big series send-off and it is only fitting that fans finally get closure to Ahsoka and Anakin's story after their seemingly open-ended battle in Malachor. Filoni himself has confirmed that Ahsoka will be back in one way or another; Vader's return is highly likely although Filoni was tight-lipped when asked about it.

That said, there is also the possibility that the two are also starting a new project with Star Wars: Forces of Destiny - an upcoming series of canon animated shorts that will take place across all Star Wars eras. Both Lanter and Eckstein are credited on the show's IMDB page as their respective characters, but since no confirmation regarding this has been announced, everyone is advised to take the information with a grain of salt

Regardless of what Lanter and Eckstein are cooking together, the fact that Anakin and Ahsoka are geared up for another get-together is enough for Star Wars fans to get excited. We will keep an eye out for future developments regarding this mysterious project so make sure to check back here on Screen Rant.
