Original Ahsoka voice actor, Ashley Eckstein, recently detailed her meeting with Rosario Dawson on the set of the upcoming Star Wars show, Ahsoka. Introduced in The Clone Wars animated film, Anakin's young Jedi padawan was initially derided by both critics and fans alike. As The Clone Wars television series found its footing, Ahsoka grew into a more nuanced character, eventually becoming a fan-favorite. Eckstein voiced her throughout the duration of show as well as its sequel series, Star Wars: Rebels, and even returned as one of the many Jedi voices speaking to Rey in Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker.

As the Star Wars franchise shifted to Disney+ following the conclusion of the Sequel Trilogy, Ahsoka made the jump to live-action in The Mandalorian season 2. Many wondered if Eckstein would reprise her character for the new portrayal, but Rosario Dawson was cast instead. Although Ahsoka has only featured in episodes of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, the character is set to receive her own live-action show that will serve as a sequel to the events of Star Wars: Rebels. However, Eckstein revealed earlier this year that she had yet to meet her live-action counterpart.

In a recent interview with EW, Eckstein shared details regarding her meeting with Dawson on the set of Ahsoka. The actor called Dawson "lovely" and revealed that she was only there for a set visit, not as a cameo in the upcoming Star Wars show. Read what Eckstein had to say about Dawson below:

"She was just lovely. We just really hit it off, which I knew we would. I've been waiting to meet her for three years, and I was so excited. It was such an incredible moment."

"I don't wanna start a rumor. People are like, 'She's on the set. She played a character.' No, it was just a set visit. So I have not filmed a cameo for the Ahsoka series. I talk about throwing your dreams out into the universe, so it would be a dream come true if I got to do a cameo, because my background is in live action."

How Will Ahsoka Tie In To Star Wars: Rebels?

Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars Rebels.

Although Star Wars: Rebels featured Ahsoka, the series primarily centered around a small Lothal-based Rebel cell consisting of Kanan Jarrus, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, Zeb Orrelios, Chopper, and Ezra Bridger. The series finale saw Ezra sacrifice himself to save his home world by summoning interstellar creatures known as the Purrgil to transport the tyrannical Grand Admiral Thrawn into uncharted space. With Ezra leaving Sabine a cryptic message, the Mandalorian warrior comes to believe that it is her mission to find him. The epilogue of the show sees Sabine and Ahsoka depart in search of their young Jedi compatriot. Ahsoka will likely feature the partners continuing their pursuit of their friend.

With Ahsoka still on the hunt for Thrawn in The Mandalorian season 2, the former-Jedi and Sabine may not have made much progress. As Ahsoka is set to premiere after The Mandalorian season 3 next year, it is possible the events of that show will dictate part of Ahsoka's narrative. With the reclamation of Mandalore part of The Mandalorian season 3's upcoming story, Sabine may partially feature in the show, possibly acquiring information that will lead to Ezra. Unfortunately, audiences will have to wait until 2023 to see Ahsoka team up with the Star Wars: Rebels crew to find their long-lost friend.
