In Star Wars Legends, the Jedi had a Force lightning ability, and Ahsoka is perfectly placed to elevate it back into canon. Electric Judgment is a skill wielded in Legends by Master Plo Koon, offering Force lightning without the Dark Side. While lightning in Star Wars has strong associations with the Sith, perhaps Ahsoka could be the one to show a version of it that doesn't rely on malice.

Ahsoka Tano is one of the main heroes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in which she’s the Padawan of Anakin Skywalker. She gained enough popularity in Clone Wars that she’s subsequently been a major character in Star Wars: Rebels, and made live-action appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book Of Boba Fett. Ahsoka is an interesting character, being a Light Side user of the Force but not a Jedi. This means that she’s not bound by any of the lingering Jedi dogma which Luke Skywalker appears to be clinging to. Being free to explore aspects of the Force which were forbidden by the Jedi, she’s well placed to be the first Light Side character to willingly use a Force lightning ability. Conveniently, Electric Judgment is just such an ability for her to learn, though it isn’t currently canon.

In Star Wars Legends, Jedi Master Plo Koon was one of the few Jedi to use a power called Electric Judgment. Unlike the Force lightning used by the Sith, Plo Koon’s force power wasn’t fuelled by anger or hatred, but by determination and a sense of justice. In Clone Wars, Ahsoka and Plo share a unique bond, as Plo was the one who first brought her to the Jedi temple on Coruscant. As a deceptively powerful Force user herself, Ahsoka is well placed to return this ability into Star Wars canon, perhaps even driven by justice for Plo himself, after he was killed during Palpatine's Order 66.

Master Plo Koon was one of the Kel Dor people, known for their unusual appearance, with leathery skin and face masks allowing them to breathe. The Kel Dor formerly had a sect of strong Force users, sages known as the Baran Do. In Star Wars Legends, the Baran Do were skilled in a number of unusual Force abilities, including using the Force to create whirlwinds and casting white lightning from their fingertips. Being finely attuned to the Force, they discovered a way to use this needing to draw on the power of the Dark Side the way Sith lightning is conjured. This was probably the inspiration for Plo Koon’s Electric Judgment ability.

Ahsoka is scheduled for release sometime in 2022 but, with only rumor and speculation to go on at the time of writing, it’s still anyone’s guess what the titular main character’s story might involve. That said, Star Wars writers have shown a passion for taking the best parts of Star Wars Legends and putting them back into canon in live-action TV shows. Whether or not Ahsoka learns to use new Force abilities, her series is certain to show some new sides to her character.
