What happened to Ahsoka after Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7? Star Wars fans were taken aback when George Lucas introduced Ahsoka Tano, the Padawan of Anakin Skywalker. At first, there were fears her presence would damage the franchise's continuity, given her existence wasn't even hinted at in the prequel trilogy, but those fears were misplaced, and Ahsoka has become a real fan-favorite.

There's a sense in which The Clone Wars has become Ahsoka's story, as the show has followed her training as a Jedi Knight, her growing disappointment with the Council, and her ultimate return in the last days of the Clone Wars. The last few episodes of The Clone Wars season 7 are concurrent with the horrific events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, and they have revealed just how Ahsoka survived Order 66 and the slaughter of the Jedi. This actually contradicts the opening scenes in E.K. Johnston's novel Ahsoka, but there's a simple reason for that; when Ahsoka was written, Lucasfilm never believed they'd get the chance to make the final season of The Clone Wars.

According to Ahsoka, the former Padawan initially travelled to the Outer Rim, where she believed she could hide safely from the Empire's agents. Unfortunately, Ahsoka quickly realized she couldn't simply keep her head down because the Empire's evil was all-pervasive, and Force-sensitives were in danger - including children. She began to sow the seeds of rebellion, and ultimately sought an ally in Senator Bail Organa, taking up the codename "Fulcrum." She became one of Bail's closest confidants, as he sought to organize the Rebellion without drawing too much attention. The Empire believed they could use Bail's reputation as a family man, including his love for his adopted daughter Leia, against him, but Bail insisted Leia took after her mother, and clearly anticipated his daughter one day becoming a Rebel as well. Ahsoka never realized Leia was actually the daughter of her former Master Anakin Skywalker and his beloved Padmé.

Ahsoka on Star Wars Rebels

The next chapter of Ahsoka's story is told in the Star Wars Rebels series where Ahsoka became a key link in the Rebel Alliance, helping the different Rebel cells to communicate with one another. This role led her to the planet Lothal, where she became closely involved with the Rebels there, including her fellow Jedi survivor Caleb Dune, and it saw her come into conflict with the Empire's Inquisitors and - ultimately - Darth Vader himself. Ahsoka learned the shocking truth about the fall of Anakin Skywalker and would have died if not for the intervention of Ezra from the mystical reality called the World Between Worlds. Ahsoka returned to the Rebel Alliance, although it's unclear why she never seems to have crossed paths with Luke Skywalker. After the end of the Galactic Civil War, Ahsoka returned to a freed Lothal and resolved to accompany the Mandalorian Sabine Wren on a quest to the Unknown Regions.

Rosario Dawson will play a live-action Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian season 2, essentially transforming the character into the connective tissue the links Star Wars: The Clone Wars to the current Disney+ series. This show is set several years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and it's safe to assume it will at least hint at the outcome of Ahsoka's quest. There's no doubt she'll have a particularly strong reaction to Baby Yoda as well.
