The working title and lead character's name for Disney+'s upcoming show, Star Wars: The Acolyte, have reportedly been revealed. Little is known about the cryptically titled Star Wars spinoff series apart from vague information that accompanied the show's original announcement last year during Disney's Investor's Day livestream event. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy described the series as a "mystery-thriller" that will explore the reemergence of the dark side decades before Emperor Palpatine rose to power. No official casting announcements have been made thus far, although the show is expected to follow a woman protagonist.

The Acolyte is expected to take place during the waning days of the High Republic era, which spans from roughly 300 years prior to the events of the episodic Skywalker Saga films up until around 50 years before Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (which writer and showrunner Leslye Headland took inspiration from for The Acolyte). This era is a relatively recent addition to Star Wars lore, having kicked off earlier this year as a synergistic publishing initiative comprising Star Wars' various written mediums, such novels and comics. The Acolyte will be the first time that the High Republic era will be depicted onscreen, although, given the time frame, there will likely be several centuries separating series from the books.

A recent article from The Illuminerdi has revealed the working title for The Acolyte, as well as what may possibly be the protagonist's name. The working title is reportedly "Parodox," while the lead character's name is "Aura. They also report that the show will begin filming in early summer of 2022, rather than in February as was previously reported.

Despite these tidbits, the show remains shrouded in mystery. It's worth mentioning that both the reported working title and the lead character's name may not necessarily reflect the content of the show itself. Return of the Jedi famously used the working title Blue Harvest in order to obscure the film's production from prying eyes. Moreover, Daisy Ridley's character in the Star Wars sequel trilogy went by the name "Kira" until late into production of The Force Awakens when director J.J. Abrams decided to change the character's name to "Rey."

While these new nuggets of information may be interesting to those closely following the show's production, they will likely have little bearing on the final product. Even if Aura is currently the protagonist's name, it's highly likely that it will change by the time the show debuts on Disney+. Fans will have a while longer to wait before they can expect to see substantial first-looks from Star Wars: The Acolyte.
