Star Wars 9 Trailer Teaser Reveals A LOT Of Ships (Including The Ghost?)

Star Wars 9 Resistance Fleet

UPDATE: Watch the FULL Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer here.

A new teaser for the final Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer includes a shot that reveals a lot of ships, including what could be the Ghost. After weeks of speculation, Disney finally confirmed a new Star Wars 9 preview would debut today (October 21), during ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcast. This is the same marketing strategy employed during the buildups for The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, signaling the kickoff of a true promotional blitz. Over the next couple of months, there will be a bevy of television spots, international trailers, and other materials to get fans hyped for the film.

Today, trailer drops are almost as big events as the films themselves, and Disney's mega franchises are no exception. That's why instead of just surprising fans with new footage, the studio made a point to announce its premiere days ahead of time. And as Star Wars enthusiasts impatiently wait for halftime of tonight's Patriots at Jets game, Disney is continuing to ramp up excitement levels.

On Twitter, user Zcure1 shared a video of a new Star Wars 9 trailer promo, which primarily consists of shots of First Order and Resistance ships. Take a look at it for yourself in the space below:

The shot of the Resistance fleet is bound to attract a lot of attention, and not just for illustrating the heroes have indeed rebuilt their forces following the devastating losses they took in The Last Jedi. To the right of the Millennium Falcon is a ship that highly resembles the Ghost from Star Wars Rebels. Granted, there's a chance that it's simply a vehicle of the same model (and isn't the Ghost), but for the time being it's a large coincidence. Lucasfilm's included the Ghost in live-action before (it can be spotted in Rogue One), so they aren't averse to tying together all areas of their canon. Since this is the last installment of the Skywalker saga, it wouldn't be out of the question for J.J. Abrams to go for broke and include as many Easter eggs and references as possible. Fans of Rebels would certainly appreciate the nod, even if a character like Hera Syndulla isn't seen onscreen. Viewers will almost definitely have to wait until December to find out if that's the Ghost or not.

If this is any indication, the newest Star Wars 9 trailer is going to continue the tradition of fueling fan theories and speculation, rather than reveal any truly important plot revelations or twists. Beginning with The Force Awakens, Disney's marketing team has done an exemplary job crafting trailers that establish the tone and atmosphere of the new movies, without digging too deep into the actual story. With only two months remaining until The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters, there's no reason to change things up now.
