UPDATE: Watch the FULL Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer here.

The final Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer arrives on October 21, but what time will it be released online? Disney and Lucasfilm are entering the home stretch for the final installment of the Skywalker saga. There are now less than two months left before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters, and yet, there's hardly been any footage released from J.J. Abrams' return to the franchise.

Lucasfilm kept with their usual marketing model by releasing the first Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer at Star Wars Celebration earlier this year. The two-minute Star Wars trailer gave fans the first looks at what is next for Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). Of course, the surprise of the trailer was the laugh that played over the final seconds confirming the return of The Emperor (Ian McDiarmid). This trailer was the only footage shown from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker up until a few more seconds were released as part of a Skywalker saga compilation shown at D23.

Based on Lucasfilm's history, it has long been expected that one final, full Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer would arrive in October. After various dates were reported, it was recently confirmed that the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer will arrive on October 21 during Monday Night Football on ESPN. The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer will air during halftime of the game, but if you don't plan on watching the New England Patriots and New York Jets matchup, when should the trailer arrive? The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer should release between 9:30-10:00 pm EDT. This will ultimately depend on the speed of the first half, but the 8:20 pm start time should result in this window being met.

The Monday Night Football launch for the final Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer follows a pattern that Lucasfilm has had with the recent films. This is where they launched the final trailers for Star Wars: The Force AwakensRogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The reason for this isn't just because of the viewership that MNF can bring in, but more so for corporate synergy by Disney, who owns ESPN.

With just a day left before the trailer arrives, fans won't have much more time to speculate on what will be shown. Based on the importance that both characters play in the trilogy, a heavy dose of Rey and Kylo Ren should be expected. But, since the actual story of The Rise of Skywalker has yet to be revealed, it would be nice for more details on the plot to arrive. Of course, many will be waiting to see if Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is featured in some capacity or if The Emperor will be shown. Fans may also be provided with a new look at the Knights of Ren in the trailer too.

It is also worth noting that the trailer drops on Carrie Fisher's birthday, and with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker envisioned to feature Leia in a prominent role prior to Fisher's passing, it won't be surprising if she's highlighted a bit more. In any case, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's final trailer should give fans plenty to talk about once it arrives.
