Watch Anakin and Kylo Ren's Force Ghosts appear in the ending of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker thanks to a cool fan-edit. Although the two iconic bad guys with hearts of gold didn't appear in the ending of the ninth Star Wars film, the cool edit appeals to fans everywhere who were hoping they actually would be featured.

The Rise of Skywalker was billed as the closing chapter to the Skywalker saga, which began with Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977. Although some might argue that Luke's story is what started it all, Anakin Skywalker was indeed the man who jumpstarted the beginning of the Skywalker story. Anakin was an idealistic man who rose to be a powerful Jedi, but his ambitious hubris and fear of losing Padme ultimately got the best of him. Although he ended up saving Luke from Palpatine in Return of the Jedi, Anakin appeared to his son one final time as a Force Ghost, proving he redeemed himself. Anakin's grandson Kylo found himself walking a similar path years later, treading waters on the Dark Side before being saved by his mother, Leia. Kylo also found redemption by saving someone he loved: giving up his life and chance to live as Ben Solo again to save Rey.

Once again, Reddit came in handy for providing Star Wars fans quality content that The Rise of Skywalker didn't satiate. Reddit user Zilliongamer posted a cool fan edit that altered the ending of the ninth Star Wars film. The actual scene features Rey seeing Luke and Leia's Force Ghosts appear, but the fan edit adds in Anakin and Kylo's Force Ghosts for an extra emotional wallop. Check out the cool edit below:

While it was excellent to show Luke and Leia's Force Ghosts at the end of the movie, adding Kylo and Anakin would've enhanced the scene even further. A core theme of Star Wars has always been that anyone can be redeemed by their choices, and Anakin and Kylo are proof that it is possible. Luke and Leia are interesting in their own right, but what makes Anakin and Kylo so compelling is their imperfections, their struggles, and the fact that they succumbed to darkness but fought to see the light again.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker divided fans and critics when it premiered. In true Star Wars fashion, multiple debates about plot choices from the movie still rage on to this day. Anakin and Kylo's arcs were so fascinating to watch because fans couldn't help feeling sympathy for them, even when they were on the Dark Side. The Rise of Skywalker missed out by excluding them from the final scene, but perhaps we shouldn't rule them out from appearing in future movies. Ultimately, Anakin and Kylo died as they lived: Imperfect men who just wanted more.
