The villains of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, including Kylo Ren and Supreme Leader Snoke, are highlighted in a new piece of promotional artwork for the film. Throughout the spring and summer, Lucasfilm kept marketing for their highly-anticipated blockbuster relatively low key, with a single teaser offering fans a taste of what to expect. Now, however, with a little under four months to go until the premiere, the floodgates are about to open with a bevy of advertising materials. Force Friday II is right around the corner, signaling the arrival of tie-in merchandise. Of course, that's only the tip of the iceberg, as the fall should also bring about a new trailer and posters.
Back at D23, Lucasfilm unveiled character one-sheets for the main cast, but that's hardly the only artwork that will come out between now and December. Recently, mockups of theatrical poster concepts made their way online, and a new Last Jedi puzzle easily could be poster the studio goes with later in the campaign. There will also be special promotional pieces to highlight the Episode VIII cast - such as the one that assembled the heroes of the story. Now, the dark side of the Force gets its moment in the spotlight.
Appearing on CBM, the picture is a beautiful illustration of some key Last Jedi antagonists. Snoke looms large in the background, shrouded in shadows. His haunting gaze is particularly unnerving since the lighting makes it look like he has no eyes. Snoke is flanked by two of his elite praetorian guards, each brandishing their own unique weapon and looking ready for action. Clutching his lightsaber, Kylo Ren appears to be in a moment of deep contemplation, on one knee as he stares at his famous helmet. You can see the image by clicking on the link below:

While there's been much discussion to date about the film's protagonists and how they continue to evolve following The Force Awakens, the villains are in a similarly fascinating position for Episode VIII. Snoke is starting to gain widespread notoriety after the destruction of the Hosnian system, earning the reputation of being a maniacal zealot. Though writer/director Rian Johnson said the Supreme Leader remains a mystery in his movie, audiences will learn more about him, as The Last Jedi reveals Snoke in the flesh and shows off his extravagant throne room on the mega Star Destroyer. Many are curious to see the praetorian guards on the big screen, hoping there's more to them than cool costumes. Johnson designed them with samurai in mind, so he might have something special planned.
As for Kylo, he arguably could be one of the most fascinating characters in the entire film. Han Solo's figurative ghost looms large over him, and it sounds like he is still struggling mightily with his unhealthy addiction to the dark side. Per the Force Awakens script, Kylo's hideous act of patricide did not have the intended effect, making him feel weaker instead of stronger. As he looks to prove himself to Snoke following his failure on Starkiller base, the former Ben Solo could be headed down a very dangerous path from which there is no return.
