A new tease for the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer shows Luke Skywalker taking his old lightsaber back from Rey on Ahch-To. Tomorrow (October 9), fans of the galaxy far, far away will finally get a fresh Episode VIII preview to overanalyze as they impatiently count down the days until the film reaches theaters. To drum the the hype (as if people weren't already excited for this), Lucasfilm released a short tease earlier this morning of Rey undergoing some intense physical training with the aforementioned Skywalker family lightsaber.

The young scavenger, of course, is going to learn the ways of the Force from Luke in The Last Jedi, after discovering his whereabouts at the end of The Force Awakens. The two's first meeting at the end of Star Wars 7 is already considered one of the most iconic images in the saga, with Rey holding out the sword to a weary Luke, asking him to rejoin the fight. While it's still unconfirmed if Luke will use a lightsaber in action, we know he is at the very least going to hold the weapon he lost on Cloud City all those years ago thanks to a new clip.

On Twitter, Good Morning America (another Disney/ABC property) took part in the festivities by announcing the new Last Jedi trailer will premiere during Monday Night Football on ESPN tomorrow night. They had their own tease that was focused on lightsaber hilts, which you can watch in the space above.

In addition to Luke and Rey, the video also shows the hand of Kylo Ren picking up his crossguard lightsaber from the ground, potentially setting up an epic showdown between the three. It's already been stated that Rey's grudge with Kylo has a personal edge to it after what happened to Han Solo in Force Awakens, and Luke has his own demons he'll be wanting to exorcise. Some of the earliest Last Jedi rumors speculated the former Ben Solo would find his way to Ahch-To (accompanied by the Knights of Ren), so a confrontation between the mighty Force users certainly sounds like it's in the cards. That could end up being one of the most emotional set pieces the series has seen to date, considering what each character has at stake. Kylo Ren disappointed Supreme Leader Snoke after failing at Starkiller base, so he's going to be even more motivated to prove himself as a worthy dark side apprentice. Rey was able to best a compromised Kylo in Force Awakens, but the villain should be healed now and out for revenge.

It will be interesting to see how much of Kylo (and the First Order in general) factors into the new trailer. Unsurprisingly, Last Jedi marketing has been more focused on the heroes of the story - particularly Luke and Rey - with the antagonists taking a back seat. Lucasfilm has demonstrated over the past couple of years they know how to promote their tentpoles, so nobody is questioning their methods. Still, Kylo has been set up as one of the more fascinating figures in Episode VIII, meaning it would be nice to get some insight about him during the preview. Even if it's just one line of dialogue a la "I will finish what you started," it could go a long way in establishing Kylo's arc.
