Tarantino's Star Trek got greenlit and Trekkies are shook.
1 / 14
They're worried he's gonna put a lot of bullet holes and F-bombs in the franchise.
2 / 14
That is not a completely unfounded fear. Tarantino likes to do a lot of things Star Trek doesn't. Namely swear.
3 / 14
But he's also an incredible director and has experience adapting his style to suit an existing property. See: Jackie Brown.
4 / 14
Oh wait... is that an... 87% on Rotten Tomatoes? Yes. Because Jackie Brown is a very good adaptation of Elmore Leonard's novel Rum Punch.
5 / 14
Roger Ebert raved about it and named it one of his top 5 films of 1997. For what it's worth, Tarantino can adapt, which are the muscles he'd to flex to direct Star Trek.
6 / 14
And frankly, Star Trek's been around long enough that we're honestly a little excited to see what kind of wacky movie Tarantino would make with it.
7 / 14
But on one condition:
8 / 14
There can only be one. That's it. Tarantino only gets one.
9 / 14
We're not interested in a Tarantino Star Trek saga.
10 / 14
That would be ridiculous.
11 / 14
And it would totally dilute the franchise's values.
12 / 14
But once could be pretty special. Or at least ridiculous fun in a way Star Trek rarely allows itself to be.
