Warning: SPOILERS for Star Trek: Picard Season 3, Episode 9 - "Vox"A Star Trek: Picard season 3 character set a weird, but cool, Star Trek villain record. Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 9, "Vox," revealed that the Borg formed an unholy alliance with the Changelings to assimilate Starfleet. In addition, Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers) learned that he was born with organic Borg DNA he inherited from his father, Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart). Jack confronted the Borg Queen (Alice Krige), only to be assimilated and fulfill his destiny as Vox of Borg.

The Borg and Changelings successfully assimilated Starfleet in Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 9. During the United Federation of Planets' Frontier Day celebration, the Borg and Changeling alliance exacted their plan by turning the youngest members of Starfleet into Borg drones, who then took over every ship in Starfleet's armada, including the USS Titan-A. Among the young Starfleet Officers who were assimilated are Ensigns Sidney La Forge (Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut) and Alandra La Forge (Mica Burton), the daughters of Commodore Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton), and it's Sidney who inadvertently set a new Star Trek villain record.

Sidney La Forge Became A Changeling & A Borg In Star Trek: Picard Season 3

Sidney La Forge Borg

Ensign Sidney La Forge just became the first Star Trek character to be assimilated by the Borg and impersonated by a Changeling in Star Trek: Picard season 3. Sidney was Borgified along with her sister Alandra and most of the USS Titan-A's crew, including Ensign Kova Rin Esmar (Jin Maley) and Lt. Matthew Mura (Joseph Lee). The Borg achieved this thanks to the Changelings, who infused Jean-Luc Picard's organic Borg DNA recovered from his corpse into the architecture of every starship's transporters. Every Starfleet Officer of a certain age (under 25 for humans) who used the transporters secretly received Borg DNA. Once Jack Crusher was assimilated and became Vox, his powers transmitted a signal that assimilated all of Starfleet's youth in one fell swoop.

Previously in Star Trek: Picard season 3, Sidney was impersonated by a Changeling. The shapeshifter pretended to be Ensign La Forge in Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 4, "No Win Scenario," but the ruse was quickly uncovered by Captain Liam Shaw (Todd Stashwick) and Commander Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), who killed the Changeling. However, the dead Changeling retained the form of Sidney, which allowed Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) to learn about these new, evolved shapeshifters. But Sidney was traumatized by the sight of a Changeling version of her, which led her to change her hairstyle. Now Sidney is a Borg, along with the rest of the Starfleet's young officers.

Will Sidney & Alandra La Forge Be In Star Trek: Legacy?

Alandra Sidney La Forge

Admiral Picard and the crew of Star Trek: The Next Generation have one last chance to stop the Borg and Changeling alliance in Star Trek: Picard season 3's finale, "The Last Generation." But even aboard the refurbished USS Enterprise-D, Picard and his crew face their greatest challenge ever in order to save the galaxy. Somehow, the Enterprise-D's legends have to also reclaim everyone who was turned into a Borg, including Sidney and Alandra La Forge. How they can possibly accomplish this is just one of the many questions Star Trek: Picard season 3's finale must answer.

Both Sidney and Alandra La Forge quickly became breakout characters who proved more than worthy to carry on the mantle of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Fans hope the adventures of the La Forge sisters continue in Star Trek: Legacy, the proposed continuation spinoff as yet not greenlit by Paramount+. But first, Sidney and Alandra must be restored back to humanity. Hopefully, in Star Trek: Picard's season 3 finale, Sidney will be able to assess how her first voyage on the Titan saw her doubled by a Changeling and assimilated by a Borg. Maybe this will factor into Sidney's future if Star Trek: Legacy happens.

Star Trek: Picard Season 3's finale streams Thursday, April 20, on Paramount+.
