A new image from Star Trek: Picard season 2 reveal Whoopi Goldberg as Guinan. Goldberg was first introduced in Star Trek: The Next Generation season 2 as the enigmatic 10 Forward bartender who acts as close confidante to the Captain of the Enterprise, Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart). Now, Guinan will make her return in season 2 of the Paramount+ series, which also stars Stewart, Alison Pill, Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Orla Brady, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, Brent Spiner, and the Star Trek veteran John de Lancie, who reprises his role as Q.

Picking up 30 years after the events of The Next Generation, Star Trek: Picard has already seen the heralded returns of its titular character, Data (Brent Spiner), Riker (Jonathan Frakes), and Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis). During an appearance on The View, Stewart personally invited Goldberg to return in Picard, an offer the host graciously accepted. Earlier this year, Star Trek fans got their first look at Guinan and Picard's reunion, which was also the first official confirmation of Goldberg's involvement in season 2 after several rumors.

Now, a new batch of images from ET reveal another look at the Star Trek veteran's highly-anticipated return. Though she appears alone in this particular image, Guinan is on set of a well-known location that any Trekkie should immediately recognize. Check out the new image below:

Star Trek Picard season 2 Whoopi Goldberg as Guinan

In the photo, Guinan appears to be behind the bar at the 10 Forward lounge aboard the USS Enterprise-D, an iconic location from TNG. There, the wise El-Aurian served as hostess and befriended many members of the crew due to her adept listening skills and ability to give sage advice. Guinan also ended up playing a crucial role in the Borg storyline, as her home world was destroyed by the cybernetic aliens. Picard season 2 will take Stewart's Jean-Luc and his crew on a bold and exciting journey into the past, which provided the setup for Guinan's return.

Beyond the time-travel narrative, Annie Wersching has also joined the cast of Picard season 2 as the Borg Queen, adding even more significance to Guinan's return. The question remains whether or not Golberg's role will extend beyond a cameo or if Guinan will see a season-long arc, though the stage is certainly set for a more substantial role. Audiences won't have to wait long to see Goldberg return to Star Trek, as Star Trek: Picard season 2 premieres this week on Paramount+.
