Here’s every appearance that Star Trek: Insurrection’s Kell Perim has made in Star Trek spinoff media. Released in 1998, Insurrection is the ninth film in the Star Trek movie series and the third to feature the cast of The Next Generation TV show. It’s directed by Commander William T. Riker actor Jonathan Frakes (who also helmed First Contact) and follows Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his crew as they find themselves embroiled in a conspiracy between the Federation and the Son’a alien race to deplete the peaceful Ba’ku peoples’ planet of its rejuvenating metaphasic properties.

The sequel marked the first appearance of Starfleet Ensign Kell Perim in the Star Trek franchise too. Played by late actress Stephanie Niznik, Perim hailed from the planet Trill and served as an operations officer aboard the USS Enterprise-E during the events of Star Trek: Insurrection. When the Enterprise entered into battle with a pair of Son’a warships, Perim worked with Commander William T. Riker and Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) as the crew launched a successful counterattack that left one Son’a vessel destroyed and the other severely damaged.

As the list above shows, Kell Perim has quite a prolific presence in Star Trek spinoff media despite only one canon appearance in the franchise. She’s had some pretty good storylines in many Star Trek spinoff properties too, like in the Divided We Fall comic issue United We Stand in which she was one of a few bridge officers aboard the Enterprise that defended her home planet Trill from a drone attack. The book A Time To Kill also saw Perim forced to take over first officer duties while her crewmates were on a mission.

Kell Perim wasn’t the only character actress Stephanie Niznik played in the canonical Star Trek franchise, however. She also had a guest starring role in a season 1 episode of Star Trek: Enterprise titled “Rogue Planet” as a member of a telepathic shapeshifting species known as Wraiths that were native to the planet Dakala and were saved by the crew of the Enterprise from being hunted by a blood sport-loving race named the Eska.
