Screen Rant has an exclusive clip from this week's episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks. The second half of the show's second season premiered on September 9, with new episodes airing Thursdays on Paramount+. The animated comedy joins the streaming sites' other Star Trek offerings including Star Trek: Prodigy premiering on October 28; Star Trek: Discovery, which returns for its fourth season on November 18; season 2 of Star Trek: Picard which returns in February 2022; and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds airing in 2022.

Star Trek: Lower Decks takes a humorous and irreverent approach to the Star Trek universe, focusing on the minor crew members of one of the least important ships, the U.S.S Cerritos, whose primary mission includes specializing in second contact. The ensigns, Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid), Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome), Tendi (Noël Wells), and Rutherford (Eugene Cordero), have to keep up with their menial duties on the ship while being kept in the dark about Starfleet's inner workings. The Cerritos is led by Captain Freeman (Dawnn Lewis) and her bridge crew: Commander Jack Ransom (Jerry O'Connell), Lieutenant Shaxs (Fred Tatasciore), and Doctor T'Ana (Gillian Vigman).

Check out the exclusive clip from Star Trek: Lower Deck season 2, episode 6:  "The Spy Humongous" below. The clip features the Lower Deckers prank calling Armus, with hilarious results (and some name calling). Star Trek fans will know Armus as the being who caused Lieutenant Tasha Yar's (Denise Crosby) untimely demise in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode, "The Skin of Evil". Watch the clip below!

Actress Crosby and Star Trek fans were upset by the decision to unceremoniously kill off Lt. Yar. The show even went as far as finding a way to bring her back in season 3 of The Next Generation - this time as Sela, Yar's half Romulan daughter from an alternate timeline. Bringing back the creature that killed her is a way to poke fun at some mistakes from Star Trek's past while still keeping in line with the show's playful tone.

One of the best parts of Star Trek: Lower Decks are the references to classic Star Trek moments. The show is full of deep cuts, in-jokes, and callbacks from the franchise. It has even featured several guest stars including Tom Paris (Robert Duncan McNeill) from Voyager and Captain William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Q (John de Lancie) from The Next Generation. This clip continues that trend, bringing back a memorable Star Trek moment.
