Paramount+ announced Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 3 will be released this summer and that Season 4 has already been ordered. The show is set in the Star Trek universe, specifically in 2380. Star Trek: Lower Decks follows the support crew (hence lower decks in the title) of the USS Cerritos, keeping up with the lives of Becket Mariner (Tawny Newsome), Brad Boilmer (Jack Quaid), Tendi (Noël Wells), and Rutherford (Eugene Cordero).

Paramount+ announced that they will be renewing Star Trek: Lower Decks for Season 4 ahead of the Season 3 premiere in May. Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 will be 10 episodes long, the same as Season 3, which releases in May 2022. Paramount+ continued to give Star Trek fans an exciting day by also announcing Star Trek: Discovery season 4, alongside Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2.

The show's first season premiered in 2020 and was developed by the Emmy Award-winner Mike McMahan, who previously wrote for the Adult Swim hit show Rick and Morty. The Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 2 finale "First First Contact" left fans shocked with a cliffhanger. The ending saw the captain of the USS Cerritos, Carol Freeman, get arrested by Starfleet Security for treason. Either Freeman is released in season 2 or Star Trek: Lower Decks season 3 will introduce a new captain for the Cerritos. Meanwhile, the finale also teased more clues about the truth behind Ensign Sam Rutherford's bionic implant. Hopefully, all cliffhangers will be resolved when the crew return for Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 3.
