While Star Trek is known for its space battles and exotic alien species, the series is also known for the relationships in every series. After all, the bonds between the shows' characters are what make every episode all the more special. Now, while we all appreciate a good friendship or a mentor situation, romantic relationships are some of the most exciting.

Well, most of the time they are super exciting. Star Trek has given its fans some of their favorite couples in TV history. However, there have also been a couple of complete duds along the way. Not everyone can be perfect, right? Here are 6 couples that are perfect together and 4 that make no sense.

Seven and Chakotay (No Sense)

Seven of Nine and Chakotay from Star Trek: Voyager.

Voyager always flirted with the idea of romance in Seven of Nine's life. Whether it was on the holodeck or learning tips from a certain hologram, fans did know the writers' had ideas for her. Now, did they ever think that idea would be the unfortunately bland Commander Chakotay? Absolutely not.

Ignoring the weird writing they did for Chakotay and their romance, the pair really just doesn't make sense. Seven cares a lot about science and art. Chakotay's interests lie in leadership, history, and athleticism. There is little to no overlap in their lives, so little that it's absurd that they'd last as a long-term couple. There were so many better options for her (The Doctor, Harry Kim, Janeway herself) that this one was really the worst.

Riker and Troi (Perfect)

No matter how hard TNG tried to tell fans that Riker and Deanna were just friends now, everyone knew better. They understood each other on a deeper level than anyone else did. Both parties even had a deep respect for each other's sex lives and romances, knowing they both are romantic people. It's no surprise that they are the only people that they could be comfortable, stable life partners with, when romance can otherwise be so windswept.

Even when they weren't dating, they were always each other's safe harbor. Their marriage was inevitable and fans are just happy this perfect couple accepted their feelings and got together in the end.

T'Pol and Tucker (No Sense)

Even if Trip and T'Pol work well together, they don't really make sense. She was an abnormal Vulcan interested in human affairs, but not fascinated by them. And he was, at one point, a pretty staunch anti-Vulcan crew-member. While it makes sense to warm up to her, prejudice is hard to completely overcome in a few short years.

Moreover, the pair never seemed all that attracted to each other. They probably never even would have considered it if Phlox hadn't pushed them together, meddling like an invasive elder. Fans liked the pair in the end, but honestly, they are a one in a million couple, not a perfect pair.

Jadzia Dax and Worf (Perfect)

At first glance, Jadzia and Worf seem like a super unlikely pair. She was a free spirit, exploring every culture and sensation she came in contact with, a true curious scientist. Worf has always been such a stoic, rigid commander with unwavering beliefs. Wouldn't they be a terrible couple?

Well, the fact these two are such extremes is exactly why they worked well together. Jadzia brought more fun and tenderness out of Worf, while he brought stability and challenge to her life. After all, when she spends a lifetime with romantic partners willing to do anything for her, it must be thrilling to have one stand up to her. And a challenge has always been something Worf looked for in a partner, too. They're just neat, okay?

Kira Nerys and Odo (Perfect)

Kira and Odo - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Kira and Odo were helplessly unconventional, but once they fell in love, they were perfect. The constable was the support Kira always needed, and she was the connection to humanity he needed. Even before they fell in love, their relationship always made them better leaders. Kira was unstoppable when she had Odo in her corner.  And Odo? He wouldn't lose himself in the crimes of the universe when Kira reminded him of its light and passion.

They are both great individuals, but together? They're even better. No matter how they ended, their love was wonderful while they had it.

Data and The Borg Queen (No Sense)

Star Trek: First Contact was a weird, fascinating, wonderful mess of a movie. The messiest part of it though, by far, was Data's bizarre affair with the Borg Queen. She seduced him with the promise of making him more organic. The creepy woman also kept on weirdly blowing on his new skin and generally having the most uncomfortable flirtation ever.

It's like watching a middle school boy get flirted with by a college girl who just wants access to his parent's credit card account. The entire situation was gross and, frankly, didn't make sense. Data definitely would know better than to be attracted to the Borg Queen.

Stamets and Culber (Perfect)

Not only are Stamets and Culber the first serious, long term gay couple in Star Trek, but also they are amazing together. A married couple on a starship, they bring levity to the intense drama and action of the series. Throughout all their struggles on Discovery, they've always been there for each other, supporting each other's beliefs.

Who wouldn't adore a guy who saves an alien just because he knows you'll be mad if he won't? A healer and a scientist, they both make each other better people. That's all soulmates can ever ask for.

B'Elanna And Tom (Perfect)

B'Elanna rides in the elevator with Tom Paris

For a couple of seasons, Tom Paris aimlessly walked the halls of Voyager with a pointless crush on Kes and a bunch of flirtations that never got serious. While he loved women, he never could really find one that stuck with him. That is until he got much closer to B'Elanna.

On the surface, they are very different. Tom is a somewhat layabout who likes fast vehicles and pretty women, while B'Elanna liked engineering, physics, and has a bit of a temper. However, when together, they really augment each other's abilities and make one another into better people. Tom got B'Elanna into cars, B'Elanna got Tom to be more grounded and responsible, and they both really bring out the softest sides of each other.

Kirk And Miranamee (No Sense)

Kirk and Miramanee in Star Trek

Kirk had a lot of bizarre, nonsensical relationships. But most of them were one night stands. The one that really takes the cake was not. Once, Kirk lost his memory and crash-landed on a planet filled with a group of Native American people living on a different world. While there, Kirk fell in love and married a young woman named Miranamee. They even conceived a child.

The part that makes it awkward and kinda gross is the fact Miranamee thought Kirk was a white god. Yeah, understandable why that sucks. Worse, when her people were displeased with said "white god", they stoned the pregnant Miranamee until her heart stopped beating. RIP Miranamee.

Miles and Keiko O'Brien (Perfect)

People can make fun of the O'Brien's marital squabbles all they want, but Miles and Keiko are meant for each other. Though he's best with mechanics and she's great with plants and kids, they get each other on a deeper level. They both have similar goals in life, to build a family and never take the easy path. This pair of stubborn, driven people make each other better, even if they argue a lot.

After all, if they didn't have a great relationship, how'd they be capable of surviving Keiko's possession, almost losing Molly, Miles PTSD, and so many more awful struggles? Give Keiko and Miles the credit they deserve as a wonderful couple.
