Warning! Spoilers for Wastelanders: Star-Lord #1 by Marvel Comics

In Marvel's dystopian future, where the X-Men and most of Earth's Mightiest Heroes have been killed, Star-Lord just chose the perfect name for his ship: the Pryde. In Wastelanders: Star-Lord #1, a much older Peter Quill decides to rename his ship once it's fully repaired, deciding to change the name from The Milano to the Pryde to honor a fallen lover and ally.

In the comics and Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star-Lord's love of music led to his ships getting names based on pop culture iconics. In the MCU, Peter Quill's first ship was called the Milano, named after his childhood crush on actress Alyssa Milano. After that ship was damaged beyond repair, Star-Lord and the Guardians of the Galaxy flew in the Benatar, named after iconic singer Pat Benatar. In the comics, Quill also started with the Milano but would later have ships named the Ryder (after actress Winona Ryder), the Bowie (named after David Bowie) and his current ship, the Almond (named after Marc Almond). However, in Marvel's Old Man Logan reality, Old Man Quill just chose another new name for his iconic ship.

In Wastelanders: Star-Lord #1 by Rich Douek, Brent Peeples, Cris Peter, and VC's Cory Petit, Star-Lord struggles with the fact he saved the Earth from destruction but nobody believes him. The older version of Peter Quill laments that he couldn't save the X-Men as he visits Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Inside the school, he sees the fallen Kitty Pryde, the X-Men, and the Avengers, who haunt him for not saving them. Kitty eventually reveals herself to be the Shadow King stuck inside Cerebro, which Star-Lord promptly shuts off after being reminded of his life with Pryde and the love he lost. The issue ends a week later with Star-Lord returning to the Milano, where he reveals he's changing the name to the Pryde after Kitty.

The Pryde is the perfect name for Star-Lord's ship, as his relationship with Kitty Pryde was one of the best times of his life. He named the ship Milano after his first superficial love but realized calling it after his true love is more appropriate. With Pryde dead, her memory lives on in his ship.

In the end, Star-Lord seems to find a new lease in life after stopping the Shadow King and getting his ship back. Whether the people of Earth believe him that he stopped the planet from being destroyed, Peter Quill seems ready to move on to the next chapter of his life alongside his newly named ship, the Pryde. It's a rare happier ending in the Old Man Logan universe. Wastelanders: Star-Lord #1 by Marvel Comics is in comic book stores now.
