After an emotional ride, does A Star Is Born have an after-credits scene? The answer: sort of. The film may be 136 minutes long, but if you're a big fan you're going to want to wait around.
The fourth version of a classic Hollywood tale, Bradley Cooper's directorial debut follows famous musician Jackson Maine (Cooper, who also wrote the script) and up-and-coming Ally (Lady Gaga). Jack discovers Ally in a drag bar, and is so taken with her talent he gives her a big break - with the pair falling in love in the process. A Star Is Born looks at the highs and lows of superstardom, exploring romance and the music industry with the same delicate touch before building to a startling, heart-wrenching climax.
Watch: A Star Is Born Trailer
If you've just finished watching the film and are curious if you can leave, rest assured that A Star Is Born does not have an after-credits scene. However, that doesn't mean you should just rush out of the theater - there is still a lot of extra Gaga goodness for audiences. Three songs, including audience cheers, play over the credits: "Is That Alright?", "Black Eyes" and "I'll Never Love Again".
Unsurprisingly given the talent involved, one of the many highlights of A Star Is Born is its music, with Cooper and Lady Gaga producing a full soundtrack's worth of catchy songs across the journey. They're incredibly believable as pop hits, with "Shallow" a favorite to win Best Original Song, so staying around to hear a little more is almost a must.
That there's no extra footage alongside these songs, which is only to be expected. A Star Is Born ends on a pretty resolute thematic note, so having anything else would surely hurt the final emotional beat; even just having Gaga performing the songs would feel off. And it's not like there's a potential sequel. Although, given that this is the third remake of the 1937 original - previous versions were released in 1954 with Judy Garland and 1976 with Barbra Streisand - there's sure to be another version in another decade or two.
For now, A Star Is Born isn't going anywhere. It's set to open up strong at the box office against Marvel superhero film Venom, and is pipped as a strong Oscar contender - Cooper could be nominated for four awards on the night (Picture, Director, Actor, Writer). Expect to be talking about this one - after-credits scene or no - for many months to come.
