Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee addresses the ending of Avengers: Infinity War, and has some harsh words for intergalactic villain Thanos. It hasn't exactly been a great year for the 95-year-old pop culture icon so far. He was recently accosted and threatened by two gunmen outside his Hollywood home, and last month filed a $1 billion fraud lawsuit against POW! Entertainment, a company he co-founded. He's also made it known that despite being verified, his "official" Facebook account has absolutely nothing to do with him. Still, at least he recently regained full control of his Twitter account, and has been regularly interacting with fans since.
Thankfully, in Lee's Twitter messages and videos, he usually seems to still be in good spirits, and continues to clearly love commiserating with the fans who cherish the Marvel characters he helped create. Lee doesn't appear to be letting his troubles get him down too much, and that's great to see from such a revered figure within comic book and general superhero culture.
Stan Lee's latest Twitter post is pure fun, and presents his reaction to Infinity War, and the tragic demises of so many of his creations at the hands of Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet-powered snap. Clearly meant to be tongue-in-cheek, the video message sees Lee lament his characters being gone, but promises to get them back up and running soon, and urges Thanos to leave town if he knows what's good for him. Check it out below.
Considering Stan Lee's topsy turvy 2018, it's nice to see him taking the time to have a good laugh with fans above. Interestingly though, since Lee himself has made a cameo (as seemingly different, unconnected characters, although fan theories have attempted to tie them together) in every MCU film so far - including Infinity War - one wonders if those he's cameoed as are themselves still alive after Thanos' snap wiped out half the universe's population. Especially since Lee's drunken character in Avengers: Age of Ultron is credited as being Stan Lee, and spouts Lee's famous catchphrase "Excelsior!." Is the MCU's in-universe version of Stan Lee alive? The mind boggles.
As far as Stan Lee's MCU future goes back in reality, it's already been confirmed that he's filmed cameos for July's Ant-Man & The Wasp and and 2019's sure to be titanic hit Avengers 4. One assumes he'll also pop-up in Captain Marvel and the still currently untitled Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel as well. Thanos better be cautious going forward, because Stan Lee isn't likely to leave the MCU's orbit anytime soon, and is not about to tolerate The Mad Titan's genocidal actions.
