Update 2: Stan Lee left the hospital after one night. Watch his first interview since the health scare.

Update: According to THR, Lee's representative, "Stan is doing well and feeling good. He is staying there for a few days for some check-ups as a safety precaution." Original article is as follows:

Marvel icon Stan Lee has been rushed to the hospital due to an irregular heartbeat, and is currently in a stable condition. There aren't many figures in the comic book industry as well-known, impactful, and beloved as Lee. He's one of the biggest reasons Marvel comics grew to the place it is now, and responsible for the creation of several of their most popular characters. If it wasn't for him creating Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four, not only would the comic book landscape look incredibly different, but so too would Hollywood.

Lee has remained very involved with Marvel over the years and routinely pops up in every Marvel Cinematic Universe film, and most of the other Marvel films, in a cameo capacity. His decades of work are more popular now than ever before thanks to these movies, and the continued recognition comes with Lee doing his best to show love back to fans. Even at 95, Lee tries to be active in attending cons and premieres, but health issues plagued him last year.

TMZ reports Stan Lee was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles today due to an irregular heartbeat and shortness of breath. Thankfully, he is said to now be in a stable condition, but he still remains at the hospital. Lee's reps did not respond to this story, but hopefully this was simply a minor instance and he'll make a full speedy recovery.

Lee's declining health is unavoidable and a part of growing older, but it is still not an easy thing to watch. Fans will obviously be pulling for Stan to make a complete recovery to great health. As everyone waits to see what Stan's official status is, thoughts will undoubtedly be with Lee and his family. Hopefully, we can all take a page out of Lee's book and keep things positive, which in this case is that he's already stable.

Fans will next be able to see Lee on the big screen when he makes a cameo in Black Panther in a few weeks. Additionally, he's already filmed his cameos for Avengers: Infinity WarAnt-Man and The Wasp, and Avengers 4. There's no word on if he has cameos lined up in Fox's remaining X-Men films either. Lee won't be around forever, but with Marvel Studios potentially gaining access to Marvel's full library of characters soon - many of whom Lee helped create - we can only hope he's got many more years of cameos, interviews, cons, and premieres ahead.
