Stan battled evil pretty fiercely for the first three seasons, but is there hope for Stan Against Evil season 4? Stan Against Evil stars John C. McGinley (Scrubs) as Stanley Miller, the former sheriff of a small town that just happens to be the site of a mass witch burning centuries before. Soon the town is infested with angry witches, demons and other entities, forcing Stan to work with the new sheriff to keep the town safe.
Like Ash Vs Evil Dead, Stan Against Evil was a delightful mix of horror and comedy, with the show featuring some particularly creative creature designs. It also made good use of McGinley as the gruff former sheriff and the show made for a relatively light commitment, featuring only eight episodes a season with episodes that typically ran about twenty minutes each.
While Stan Against Evil attracted a cult following due to its fun characters and love of the horror genre, but will it receive another season?
Stan Against Evil Was Canceled After Three Seasons
Stan Against Evil was officially canceled by IFC at the start of 2019. This wasn't a major surprise because while the show definitely had a fanbase, it was never a ratings behemoth either. Season 3 also ended on a shocking twist that promised to shake up the format of the series moving forward.
Stan Against Evil Season 4 Would Have Featured A Musical Episode
The third season of Stan Against Evil ended with Stan making a deal with a powerful demon to become its host if it destroyed the ghost haunting his town. While the demon fulfilled its end of the bargain, Stan arranged to die so it couldn't take him over.
With the title character dead, Stan Against Evil season 4 promised to take the series in a whole new direction. Showrunner Dana Gould (The Simpsons) committed to this idea to keep the show fresh, but McGinley's Stan probably would have featured in the fourth season somehow, even if he wasn't the lead character. Gould also stated season 4 would definitely have featured a musical episode.
Could Stan Against Evil Still Return?
In light of the show's cancellation, Dana Gould stated that while it was possible the show could reappear in some form on another network or platform, it wouldn't be back anytime soon and he was moving on to other projects. While the odds of a fourth season are somewhat slim, there's still a chance Stan Against Evil could return at some point in the future.
