Squirrel Girl is back with her latest team in this week's The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #29, as she begins to wrap up her adventures in space with Loki and Drax. Over the past couple of issues, the usually zany Marvel comic has become even crazier, after Squirrel Girl's roommate Nancy and squirrel friend Tippy Toe were kidnapped and trapped on a planet of alien squirrels. In order to save them, Doreen teamed up with Loki (who is currently Sorcerer Supreme) and Drax (recently retired from the Guardians of the Galaxy), and headed off into the galaxy.

In The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #28, Doreen and her new team found Nancy and Tippy-Toe, and uncovered a team of grifters posing as the Silver Surfer to con planets out of their riches. The issue ended with Doreen squaring off against the real Silver Surfer (without knowing it), while her team looked on in shock... and now, in The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #29, Doreen lives up to her name once more (with a lot of help from her friends).

In this issue, Squirrel Girl works her usual charm to stop Silver Surfer from actually attacking her (adding yet another super-powered win to her scorecard), but first, Nancy has to make Doreen realize that she's mouthing off to the actual Herald of Galactus. To do this, she needs to get close to her... and gets Loki to help her out, by producing a whole range of helpful heroes from across the Marvel universe for Nancy to use as backup, including Spider-Man, Rocket and Groot, Howard the Duck, and even two Thor-Horses; Beta Ray Bill, an established character, and the brand new Hocky Hoof Hank, a Thor that is 'an actual, literal horse'.

This marks Hocky Hoof Hank's first appearance in the Marvel universe, and as the issue goes on to explain in one of the hilarious footnotes: 'This is the first on-page appearance of Hocky Hoof Hank, but I hereby enshrine in canon that he was always around in other comics, just off-panel'. There's no mention made of how this brand-new Thor-horse got his powers, of course, but he carries his own version of Mjolnir in his mouth. Sadly, however, it's not likely that Hocky Hoof Hank is going to become a major player in the Marvel universe, although it's always possible he'll appear again... after being 'slapped back' to the planet he came from by Silver Surfer.

As well as appearing in this brief battle between Squirrel Girl and Silver Surfer, Spider-Man also gets a mention in the opening 'Squirrel Girl In A Nutshell' (a catchup page written as a series of tweets between Squirrel Girl and her super-friends). Here, he reminds Squirrel Girl to be careful about picking up new costumes in space, because the last time he did that, it turned out to be Venom. It's the kind of hilarious little mention that makes The Unbeateable Squirrel Girl series so much fun - even if Spidey and the rest of the temporarily borrowed team have only a tiny appearance in the issue itself. The space-themed adventures continue next issue, as Squirrel Girl, Silver Surfer and their friends have one last issue to deal with; a barrage of weapons about to go off in the next 30 seconds!
