Squirrel Girl teams up with Loki and Drax in this week's Marvel comic, creating a new dream team that could exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Squirrel Girl Doreen Green has been a member of a few teams over the years, and is best known for her time as a West Coast Avenger. She'll also be heading up the live-action incarnation of the New Warriors, and will be played by Milana Vayntrub, which means that Squirrel Girl is coming to the MCU (albeit only on the small screen). Her increasing popularity and the news that she will be joining the live-action universe has fans speculating about the possibility of her appearing on the big screen at some point in the future, and her new team from the comics would be an incredible one to see.

Of course, her new Marvel comics team isn't an official super-team (yet), but three very different heroes joining forces for a single mission. In the past few issues of Squirrel Girl, Doreen Green's roommate, Nancy, and her sidekick, Tippy Toe, went missing. In order to find them, Squirrel Girl enlisted the help of the current Sorcerer Supreme, Loki. Together, the two of them took on Dormammu, which brings us to this week, and the appearance of another Marvel hero.

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #28 picks up with Squirrel Girl and Loki in a battle with Dormammu, one of Dr Strange's most powerful enemies - and things look bad. In fact, both Squirrel Girl and Loki are crushed to death (twice), although it's immediately revealed that it's not really them, but Loki's magic projections of them that do it. Luckily, Squirrel Girl has plenty of experience with super-villains of this calibre, and figures out how to take him down (with squirrel-ghosts). Dormammu dealt with, it's time for Loki and Squirrel Girl to head across the universe to find Nancy and Tippy Toe, so Loki - being Loki - nabs a spaceship that happens to belong to none other than the Guardians of the Galaxy's Drax, who isn't too happy to see Loki.

Drax Squirrel Girl Team-Up
Drax Curses Loki in Squirrel Girl

Despite their differences, Drax and Loki agree to team up with Squirrel Girl to save Nancy and Tippy Toe, largely because of Doreen's particular brand of earnest charm, and they get to have a (very short) road trip before finding Doreen's missing friends and taking on some new villains who are attempting to scam planets by threatening them with the coming of Galactus. The issue ends with Doreen squaring off against the real Silver Surfer without realizing it, which promises to be a whole lot of fun next week.

The best part of this issue of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, however, is this new team up, which is one that we would love to see on the big screen. Now that Squirrel Girl herself has been cast in the MCU, it would be possible to connect her, Drax (Dave Bautista) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) for a team up at some point in the future - and if they have the same kind of chemistry they do in Marvel's comics, it would be absolutely incredible to see. Drax has something of a history with Loki, but his vow of nonviolence prevents him from doing much but getting sassy with him in his own way, and seeing such a literal character dealing with a trickster like Loki is utterly perfect. Squirrel Girl herself manages to both charm and annoy both of them, and both Drax and Loki are big Nancy fans, thanks to her love of cats and her willingness to grift the grifters. It's a match made in heaven.

Of course, we aren't likely to see these three together on screen any time soon. Although Drax recently quit the Guardians of the Galaxy in the comic universe, he's still a key part of the team on the big screen - and even in the comics, Drax will need to return to guard the Power Stone, not hang around with Doreen. Loki, meanwhile, is at the end of his long redemption arc in the MCU, with many fans speculating that he may not survive the massive Infinity War, which would put a damper on his ability to team up with the new Squirrel Girl. In addition, it's still not clear how much the New Warriors TV show will connect with the MCU, which could also make things difficult. However, should Marvel decide to bring these three together in live action, as well as in the comics, we'd be all for it.
