A hilarious fan-made Funko Pop! design imagines Squidward Tentacles as part of the Squid Game cast. The cartoon character, which is actually an oddly-shaped octopus, is from Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants. Squidward's name comically associates him with Netflix's South Korean series that's currently making waves among U.S. audiences and many other countries.
Squid Game is a survival drama created by Korean director Hwang Dong-hyuk and stars Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, Jung Ho-yeon, and O Yeong-su. The story starts when 456 people, all of whom are deeply in debt, are invited to play a series of simple street games. Whoever emerges as the winner gets the ₩45.6 billion cash prize (approximately $38 million), but those who fail each game face immediate execution. Despite the series' gore and disturbingly violent scenes, critics and viewers praised it for its plot and socially relevant themes. Since premiering on Netflix on Sept. 17, Squid Game quickly rose to the streaming platform's top charts and is now poised to be its biggest show to date.

Instagram user PopVinylGuy, a graphic artist who designs Funko Pop! concepts and parodies, recently imagined SpongeBob's Squidward as an iconic Squid Game guard. In the Nickelodeon cartoon, Squidward is known as an ill-tempered and grumpy octopus. The fan-made SpongeBob/Squid Game Funko Pop! crossover shows the famous animated character dressed in bright pink just like the Netflix series' faceless guard.
