While Crash Bandicoot may have enjoyed plenty of success on the Playstation, there's another Sony star that's nearly joined with Crash at the hip - Spyro the Dragon - to the point where talk of new games for them is happening. With his flame breath and spunk, Spyro has flown his way into of hearts of gamers ever since he first debuted in the late 90s.

Spyro is so endeared, that fans have made several memes online pertaining to his series. Whether it's poking fun at a certain character, or even expressing disgust towards Skylanders, these are memes that most Spyro fans can agree upon.

Spyro Vs Ripto

Gnasty Gnorc may be the major first villain Spyro has ever faced, but Ripto is the dragon's most persistent enemy. An evil dinosaur joined by his henchmen Crush and Gulp, Ripto has appeared in Ripto's Rage and Enter the Dragonfly - only to get his butt kicked at the end of both adventures.

After meeting his end at the hands of Spyro the first time, you'd think that Ripto would give up on antagonizing the dragon, especially after he fell into lava and all. But as his return in Enter the Dragonfly showed, this guy clearly hadn't learned his lesson.

Not Knowing How To Fly

Since Spyro is a dragon, you expect him to know all the basics of flying, right? However, in many of his games, Spyro may need a brief refresher course in learning how to do things like gliding and hovering. Things that even the most basic dragons can do.

It's one thing to have to learn flying skills from Ignitus, a dragon elder who serves as Spyro's mentor in The Legend of Spyro series. But it's another to have to gain pointers from Hunter - a cheetah who can just jump very far.

Always On The Chase

Other than the sheep that serve as fodder, thieves are among the most common creatures to be found in the Spyro games. While they're pretty friendly in Enter the Dragonfly and Attack of the Rhynocs, these guys are enemies more or less known for stealing various items.

Whether it's a Dragon Egg, an ice crystal, or even a stolen lamp, it's up to Spyro to chase after these thieves and ram them down. Thieves are known for running away from Spyro at almost superhuman speeds, which can make for quite the adrenaline rush during a frantic chase.

Completionism Is Hard

Getting one hundred percent completion in a video game is the ultimate goal for many gamers far and wide. Most Spyro games - especially Spyro 3 - will often make you work for that sweet gratification of fully completing a game.

Even after defeating the big bad, there's a bunch of other stuff to do. Aside from collecting all the gems, one must also gather every other collectible there is to find. Often, beating a challenge that you may have overlooked during your adventure might be necessary - and some challenges might be harder than others.

Persistent Moneybags

Moneybags is by far the most annoying character that Spyro fans deal with. This suit-wearing bear will appear at different spots during Spyro's adventure, asking Spyro to lend gems just to cross a bridge, learn a new skill, or even unlock a new playable character.

Moneybags will take so many of your gems, that getting your gems back once you beat the game will make for one of the most satisfying feelings in the world. In the end, coughing up 500 or so gems just to reach the next part of a level will be worth it.

The REAL Spyro

It's no secret that Spyro has had a few different appearances over the years. His look in The Legend of Spyro, with his horns turned back and all, is one such appearance. It's still the same old Spyro regardless (albeit in a different continuity).

However, his look in the Skylanders series has always been viewed as controversial. Many Spyro fans reviled the dragon's look, with some insisting that he looked, in a word, ugly. It's for that reason that these fans view the real Spyro as the one with his classic look.

No Fear Spyro

Spyro has fought all sorts of baddies in many of his great adventures. A metallic spider, an evil snowman, or even a dragon-eating bush - none of those enemies stand much of a chance when Spyro is in their midst.

Spyro may be much smaller compared to other dragons in the Dragon Realms, but that doesn't mean he can't strike fear into any enemy that dares to oppose him. While anyone may be afraid of an Attack Frog in Misty Bog, the same can hardly be said for the fearless Spyro.

How The Turn Tables

One thing that Thieves are known for aside from their fast running ability is their knack for taunting Spyro. Whenever they are far away from Spyro, Thieves will mock the dragon with their cry of "Nah-Nana-Na-nyah" - which can get annoying after hearing it a few times.

That said, these Thieves may be in for a shock when Spyro catches up to them and actually chases them. One could say that they were asking for it, but given the kind the stuff they steal they've done nothing but brought it upon themselves.

Spyro The (Nonpartisan) Dragon

Spyro may be a good guy and all, but when it comes to affairs in different realms, he's mostly a neutral guy. His goal, after all, is to beat each level by collecting a talisman or freeing a dragon egg. Honestly, it would make Spyro an ideal movie character.

So even if Spyro's a double agent working for both the Breezebuilders and Land Blubbers, he's just a dragon trying to save the day. And he probably couldn't care less about saving a fairy princess from a wedding at Charmed Ridge either, at the fairies' discretion. Spyro isn't exactly known for sticking to just one side.

Kids Will Never Know

For most young gamers, their first introduction to Spyro is the Skylanders series. It's for that reason they believe that Spyro first originated as a Skylanders character - not in his own eponymous series. It's a real gut punch to Spyro fans who grew up with the original trilogy.

The success of the Reignited Trilogy has done well to not only put Spyro back on the map but also affirm to young gamers that Spyro has been around longer than they expected. It must have been a shock to them that Spyro was the main protagonist of his own series, rather than a character who first debuted in 2011.
