The 2022 anime adaptation of Spy X Family explores the concept of found family and examines how ulterior motives can sometimes shape relationships. None of the three members of the Forger family are what they seem; the innocent Anya is secretly a telepath, the upstanding Loid is really a spy, and the introverted Yor actually operates as an assassin for hire.

Yor's combat prowess is incredible, but she's desperate to keep it a secret lest her cover be blown. Nevertheless, she has accidentally displayed her incredible power on more than one occasion throughout the first half of Spy X Family's inaugural season.

Yor Kicks A Man Into The Ceiling

The twelfth episode of Spy X Family is a particularly weird one; Loid insists on taking the family to the aquarium in order to keep up appearances, but he's given an ancillary assignment that requires him to track down chemical weapon plans being smuggled in, of all things, a live penguin.

Loid's mission is interrupted by a rival agent who nearly escapes, but Anya susses out what's going on and latches on to the man, prompting Yor to high kick him into the ceiling. After the fact, the man is seen dangling limply, and Yor worries that she put too much force into her kick and killed her target.

Yor Saves Loid

In order for operation Strix to succeed, secret agent Twilight must get married and raise an honor student, something he manages to make happen in a remarkably short time frame. Recognizing that a fake marriage would help to cover their covert activities, Yor and Twilight agree to get married over the course of less than a day.

Just ahead of Loid's "proposal," the two are attacked, but Loid plays it off as a sort of mass psychosis on the part of patients for whom he cares. He's nearly taken down by an aerial attack from a knife-wielding assailant, but Yor manages to kick the man and send him tumbling down the alleyway into a wall.

Yor Slaps Yuri Across The Room—Twice

Yor slaps her brother Yuri in an episode of Spy X Family.

The eighth episode of Spy X Family's first season ends on a cliffhanger; Yuri, Yor's younger brother, demands that she kiss Loid in order to prove that the two are actually married. Yor downs a bottle of wine to overcome her nerves, but she still can't go through with it.

She leans in to give Loid a kiss, but then pulls back and slaps Yuri instead. Yuri is launched across the room and bloodied, and his sour attitude gives Yor cause to slap him yet again. It was a great moment, but it unfortunately cemented Yuri's dissatisfaction with the situation.

Yor Teaches Anya How To Play Dodgeball

In the tenth episode, Anya gets wind that a Stella star may be awarded to the person selected as MVP in an upcoming class dodgeball game. Eager to capture her first major accolade, she asks Yor to train her—and Yor takes things a bit too far.

In an outing at the park, Yor tries to teach Anya how to throw a dodgeball optimally. She offers a demonstration and launches the ball with such force that it knocks a tree over. Any is understandably awestruck by her foster mother's power. Unfortunately, her teachings don't pay off, as Anya's dodgeball skills don't seem to have improved by the end of the episode.

Yor Catches A Tray With Her Foot

Yor catches a tray with her foot in an episode of Spy X Family.

In an effort to embarrass Yor, her co-worker Camilla invites her to a party and tells her to bring her significant other. Yor is initially embarrassed when the man she arranged into pretending to be her date fails to show up, but Loid eventually makes an appearance and stuns everyone.

As a petty attempt at reprisal, Camilla "accidentally" throws a tray full of hot food at Yor, who manages to catch it with her foot, an action for which Loid scolds her. Regardless, it was a badass move, and Camilla was left completely speechless.

Yor Springs Into Action

In the third episode of Spy X Family's first season, the Forgers, now a legally-bonded group, embark on an outing to a nearby park. There they witness an elderly woman being robbed, and Yor, without thinking, springs into action and launches herself down a steep hillside in just a few bounds.

Anya and Loid manage to identify and take down the criminal, but Yor's incredible moves were nonetheless worthy of praise. In three short episodes, it's already well-established that both Yor and Loid are extremely capable and dangerous individuals.

Yor Elegantly Subdues A Stampede

A still from the fourth episode of the Spy X Family anime.

Operation Strix relies not only on agent Twilight's ability to masquerade as a family man, but on his adopted daughter's academic achievements as well. Unfortunately, when interviewing for admission to the top school in the country, the Forger family is faced with all manner of unexpected difficulties.

When the animals from the school's stable inexplicably break out, Yor leaps into action and uses her expert knowledge of pressure points to subdue the bull leading the charge. Yor was embarrassed about it, but one of the school's headmasters was completely overjoyed by her elegance.

Yor Saves Anya

Shortly after being admitted to Eden Academy, Anya is fitted for her school uniform, but she's later kidnapped by thugs who associate the uniform with wealth. Fortunately, Yor leaps into action, knocking one of Anya's attackers over with her grocery bag. She then splits a pumpkin with a single chop of her hand, intimidating the rest of the assailants into submission.

Yor then continues to worry about her adequacy as a mother, but most fans would agree that she is perhaps the most diligent mother for whom a child could ask.

Yor Nearly Kills Loid

Spy X Family's fifth episode was perhaps its strangest; eager to reward Anya after she's admitted into Eden Academy and goaded on by his informant Franklin, Loid rents out an entire castle, and Franklin sets up an elaborate gauntlet that requires Loid to act out antics from the Bondman television show that Anya loves.

In the finale, Loid must go up against an intoxicated Yor, who, despite her drunken state, nearly takes him out with a flurry of blows. Unable to let up due to her inebriation, she may have actually killed him had she not fallen asleep mid-battle.

The Assassination

Yor's assassination scene from the Spy X Family anime adaptation.

Though she moonlights as an assassin, fans don't see much of Yor doing what she supposedly does best in the first half of Spy X Family's first season. In fact, episode 2 features the only major assassination fans see Yor commit.

Be that as it may, the introduction of the Thorn Princess was as badass as it gets. A stiletto knife-wielding killer capable of taking down a roomful of enemies in mere moments, Yor is not to be trifled with, and there could be some serious trouble should she ever take agent Twilight on as a target.
